Good food, but waited WAAAY too long

Tried this place out with my bf on Sunday night. We each got a pasta and a salad, and we split a small plate. Everything took FOREVER to come. Granted, they were busy, but it still was way too long, especially considering what we ordered was nothing fancy. The waitress was very nice and apologetic, but it still ruined our meal. The orecchiette pork and fennel sausage was very delicious.

Great food, friendly service, nice ambiance

I went with my sisters, the hostess and staff were friendly and sweet although The service was a little slow and the waiters rushing about without making eye contact. We were seated in the lounge section, and one of the sofas was broken and quite uncomfy but there wasn't much choice to move around. The food itself was lovely and the recommendations were also good. The waiter was very sweet and the ambiance was warm and cosy. All in all I would definitely go back.

    Twice pleased

We have had the trout, the eggplant and mushroom sides, the pesto-pasta, the ribs, and the chicken. Each were superb, as well as the Barolo wine bottle that we shared. Atmosphere was super. Our waitstaff was very cordial and plan on returning soon!

    Great all around

Been going to Kefi for years now, went here on a recommendation from a friend and were extremely pleased with our meal. The bruschette were a major highlight, all four we ordered were excellent (marscapone, truffled egg, and garlic were the best, the tomato mozz was good, but not great) The salad was decent, not amazing. The pizza and trout were top notch. Pizza was cooked to perfection, trout was very similar to the bronzini at Kefi (nice crispy and salty skin, and great flavored flesh). The decor was awesome too, I never care or comment about that sort of thing, but it definitely tied it all together. Rustic, antiquey. The only problem was that the music they were playing didn't really fit the motif.

    I want to love it

We loved this place the first few times we tried it. Great selection of wine with ok prices (at this point I basically expect wine lists to be a rip off). We basically go there for pizza and salad which are both always very good. Service goes from very good, (great sommelier who knows his wine), to subpar- rude, snotty, even one server yanked our bottle of wine from the table when it still had about a third left.. Plus side is pizza and wine in a great looking space and cool feeling bar scene. Gets too crowded and loud- too hot upstairs sometimes; the service needs to be improved. Lowdown: We keep looking for a new pizza place in the area, but for the time being, we go to Cotta!

Far from the best of the bunch

Cotta has brought back the charm to a lovely neighborhood space, a major improvement over the former SeƱor Swanky's. As a bar, it's cozy and inviting. But as a restaurant it has some major flaws. The servers seem very disorganized and don't really know the menu, and the tables are small and awkwardly placed. Once we managed to find room for both our wine glasses and our plates, we tried some of the house special "truffle fries." They were decent fries, but I couldn't detect anything truffley about them, and they were served with a boring ketchup for dipping. We tried again with an order of meatballs, but they were bland and crumbly. Since our wine wasn't very inspiring either, we gave up on having a meal and went home for the rest of our dinner. Also, if you sit at the outdoor tables, you can smell a whiff of something dank and sewerlike coming up from the alley next door. A very unappetizing turn-off.

Great Italian Place, but Don't Order...

Their Vongole is soooo salty! I've never had anything so over salted, and with such chewy clams (chewier than usual). Apart from their Vongole, I love this place. It's a great neighborhood joint, and you can tell the servers, and owners care about it. You can see them walking around and talking to guests, making sure everything's OK. The rest of the food, at least the other food that I've tried, is pretty good. And their Mojito is super yummy! Really, my only suggestion is to fix the vongole! PLEASE! :)
