    Solid Italian

Just had dinner for six here last night. Very attentive service all around. Good, solid, and very tasty food. As other reviewers mention, not the best Italian in the city, but an all-around good value and experience. A note to locals...go after theater time and it will be less crowded and noisy. The atmosphere changed from "I can't hear you" to a pleasant and lively din in under 15 minutes as the theater crowd scrambled out.

    good spot near Times Square

Not exactly the best Italian food in town, but very, very, decent fare for prices that will not bankrupt you. Their selection of appetizers is interesting, try the grilled octopus, for instance. Good bread too, which ought to be the hallmark of any respectable Italian restaurant.

    Perfect Spot in Theater District

After a very good experience a few yeaars ago with a party of four, we tested the restaurant in July with a larger group of eight. They handled it beautifully. We were seated promptly and served quickly and efficiently. The staff was pleasant and knew precisely who ordered what - no "auctioning" of dishes. Food was tasty, from salads to main courses to dessert. Our table ordered pasta, fish, veal and everyone was very happy with their choice. Price was right, too this place offers good value and is highly recommended.

    Enjoyable

We chose this restaurant because of online reviews, times square location and menu. We were a group of six, 5pm Saturday night dinner. We had shared the following: chickpea soup, salads and calamari/shrimp appetizers. For dinner, we ordered the strip steak - very nice rosemary flavor, Chicken special - stuffed with prosciutto and fontina cheese, pasta special with scallops, lasagna, shrimp and pasta. I thought the spinach was a little tough but the flavor was nice. Everyone enjoyed their meal - great flavor in each dish. Desserts could have been a little better, disappointed in the apple pie but the tiramisu was wonderful. I would recommend this place to anyone who goes to the area. I don't think it's the best Italian restaurant but I don't think you would be disappointed.

    Great pre-theater option

Five of us enjoyed an EXCELLENTdinner before going to the theater. Our server asked if we were going to a show and saw to it that we had an enjoyable and unhurried meal with time to spare. The bread basket contained an assortment of very fresh choices. Those choosing pasta had the eggplant ravioli (delicious!), veal ragu and seafood combination. Others chose the veal scallopine dish . We were all in agreement that the food was great. We shared the fried calamari and shrimp as an appetizer (2 orders were sufficient) and all splurged and had dessert- tiramisu and the apple tart with cinnamon ice cream. Our desserts and coffee were accompanied by a complimentary small dish of cookies. We will definitely return!

    Bang for your buck

This place is delicious. While I try my best to stay away from dining in the Times Square area, I find myself eating out at Osteria at least once a most - and many times w/o theater tickets. I find their food to be constantly on par, delicious fish and meat dishes and their minestrone soup in the winter is to die for. Highly recommend their mussels too...and chocolate mousse for dessert.

Overpriced & Not up to NYC Standards

Very disappointed. I work in the area and eat out in restaurants at least 3-4 nights a week. I walked passed by this place many times and thought I would give it a try. I was with a group of 4 people. We all agreed that the food was simply bland. It was also overpriced for the less-than-desireable quality provided. The drinks were watered down. The service, while not terrible, was not great. I can't understand how this place has stayed in business with so many other restaurants in the immediate area that have significantly better quality food for the same price.
