Not the greatest Italian place in the Theater District

A friend suggested this place and we all three had dreadful meals. Mine was the worst -- the special of the day -- a 1/4" veal chop breaded with dressed salad on top. usually one of my favorite dishes. The veal was so thin and dried out and oily, it was uncuttable forget eatable. It was also cold. Alll for $32. My friends' fish dishes were small and tasteless. The place totally capitalizes on location. This place is a tourist trap. Really atrocious food -- sweet waiters but inedible fare. Thank god the play was great.

    Will NOT return

Food was OK but overpriced. Drinks were stingy. Service persons were arrogant and unpleasant. It was a dispoointing experience. We will NOT return.

food good service not so much

As other reviewers have said, the food is quite good and well priced, especially for the neighborhood. Baked eggplant appetizer special was delicious, as was the grilled squid a difficult dish to do properly. But the service was amateurish at best! Water and bread very slow to come wine never poured by the waiter coffee not refilled no checking in to see if all was ok dishes repeatedly served to the wrong party at the table an attempt to bus the whole table before the main course was served, etc.etc. Waiter was friendly but did absolutely nothing besides take the order and bring the check. Clearly the room needs a manager no one was watching what was going on. BTW, this was at 8:30 PM on 12/20 not pre theatre. Restaurant was busy but not overwhelmed. Too bad because a good kitchen is being sabotaged by the service.

    A good place to eat

My boyfriend and I went before our theater show. We had bruschetta and a caprese salad (which was not on the menu but they were nice enough to make for us) for appetizers, both were very good. He had lasagna and I had linguine with seafood. I enjoyed mine, he thought his was good. We also had a bottle of wine. For dessert he had a chocolate mousse and I had flan with raspberry sauce. We both liked our dessert. For all that, our bill was around $115, which was pretty much what we were expecting. We had a nice corner table in the back. The main complaint would be that it was pretty cramped in there. Otherwise, the food was good, the service was great, and the atmosphere nice.

    Solid Italian

Just had dinner for six here last night. Very attentive service all around. Good, solid, and very tasty food. As other reviewers mention, not the best Italian in the city, but an all-around good value and experience. A note to locals...go after theater time and it will be less crowded and noisy. The atmosphere changed from "I can't hear you" to a pleasant and lively din in under 15 minutes as the theater crowd scrambled out.

    good spot near Times Square

Not exactly the best Italian food in town, but very, very, decent fare for prices that will not bankrupt you. Their selection of appetizers is interesting, try the grilled octopus, for instance. Good bread too, which ought to be the hallmark of any respectable Italian restaurant.

    Perfect Spot in Theater District

After a very good experience a few yeaars ago with a party of four, we tested the restaurant in July with a larger group of eight. They handled it beautifully. We were seated promptly and served quickly and efficiently. The staff was pleasant and knew precisely who ordered what - no "auctioning" of dishes. Food was tasty, from salads to main courses to dessert. Our table ordered pasta, fish, veal and everyone was very happy with their choice. Price was right, too this place offers good value and is highly recommended.
