    Not recommended

There were four of us at the table. We got butternut squash soup, on beautiful plates. The soup was heated in a microwave since is arrived mostly cold with some spots warmer then other. Also, the amount was about half an inch deep, so ther was very little to suffer through. Some of us order the green salad which was decent. For main course we had the hanger steak, on a bed of mashed potatoes and baby bok choy. The steak was chewy, the mashed potatoes were watery and the baby bok choy was cold! Those of us that got half a chicken, had similar complaints . Lots of money for poor food and service. Do not go ther for the food.

    In NY?

When we arrived at Opia we didn't know what to expect, but it was an intimate dinner that we had, food was good and our server couldn't be better in the other room was all about music with a French D.J. who was in her own world with friends... oh yes and drinks, It was like being in Eurpoe for a minute.

What does this place want to be?

Me and boyfriend went here a few nights ago for a dinner and although the food was quite good and the space dark and romantic it was impossible to carry on a conversation. The music was THAT loud. This could be a really nice place if the mgmt could figure out what kind of atmosphere they are going for.

    Poor Service

I went to Opia on a business lunch, and was disappointed. The food was good enough, but the service was subpar. First, they brought one of us the wrong food. Then, they brought one of the main courses out 30 minutes before the rest. Our waitress was anything but attentive. My friend had to ask three times for more water. The food was no where near good enough to put up with the service.

    Good food, but..

The food is absolutely incredible. The management/staff, however, is a different story. They are completely disorganized. On my recent visit, our reservations were mishandled, our food came 90 minutes late, and our hostess and waitress were very condescending. Even our manager was embarassed by his restaurant's quality.

Don't waste your time or money here

Not for Restaurant Week. The regular prix-fixe dinner menu is cheaper than RW prices, and lunch is only $2 more expensive. Either way, I still can't decide if the food was worse or the service. The waiter ignored my friend and I for the first 15 minutes, then told us 2 of the three app. on the menu were unavailable. Proceeded to bring us a salad that tasted warmed up, I ordered a lamb shoulder, which turned out to be undercooked, and my friend's tart came swimming in a plate of melted ice cream, which the waiter never apologized for. Besides not accepting AMEX or Discover, which I discovered after having my cards thrown back at me, they also seem to believe that it is ok to be rude to the customers and still expect a great tip. Fuhgettaboutit. Pretty ceilings though. Oh, and the bathroom (which was outside the restaurant) did not have running water in the sink, only a few drops came out from the faucets. What's wrong with this place?!
