Loved this restaurant!
I lived in Tokyo for a year, and I always loved eating at Ootoya. When I found out that they had a branch here in New York, I was excited but wary if the food here would be the same as in Tokyo. But they did not disappoint! This is a great place to explore Japanese food that is not as mainstream in the US, and their service is awesome. I would eat here all the time, if I could afford it.

Authentic!
When I miss Japan, I come here. My fave is definitely pork cutlet. I make it "set", comes with a miso soup, fully rice, veggie pickles and Chawan Mushi (savory pudding in a pot). Other dishes I liked, grilled fishes (Saba), Kimichi Nabe (hotpot), pressed Sushi, croquets, Porkbelly and more... Few dessert choice, fresh and light grapefruit sorbet or Annmitsu (Japanese sandae).
