    welcome to the US, Finally!

so happy to have 0-otoya in the US. in japan, it's the best chain place to have a simple but REAL meal for lunch or dinner at an affordable price with kids. too bad it's pricier and fancier than the japanese locations but the portions are huge and even shareable especially amongst kids. also, it's kid friendly depending where you sit. definitely worth the $ and don't miss the chawa-mushi (custard dish served with set meals). this one is definitely a signature dish here. keep expanding in the US O-otoya!

    Loved this restaurant!

I lived in Tokyo for a year, and I always loved eating at Ootoya. When I found out that they had a branch here in New York, I was excited but wary if the food here would be the same as in Tokyo. But they did not disappoint! This is a great place to explore Japanese food that is not as mainstream in the US, and their service is awesome. I would eat here all the time, if I could afford it.

    Authentic!

When I miss Japan, I come here. My fave is definitely pork cutlet. I make it "set", comes with a miso soup, fully rice, veggie pickles and Chawan Mushi (savory pudding in a pot). Other dishes I liked, grilled fishes (Saba), Kimichi Nabe (hotpot), pressed Sushi, croquets, Porkbelly and more... Few dessert choice, fresh and light grapefruit sorbet or Annmitsu (Japanese sandae).
