    Nothing special

It was good, but just good. I heard a lot of good things about this place, but was so dissapointed after an actual experience on my own. There are better restaurants with this price range in terms of decor, food, service and atmosphere.

    Romantic and delicious

Went there for dinner with my date. Very special place - piano player by the bar, intimate setting, candles lit for your table. This place is the talk of the town for proposals and special occasions. Peach ginger ice cream dessert was nothing extravagant. But the chocolate fondant was the most delicious choco dessert I ever had - and my date concurred. Prix fixe was $69 per person for a regular night. Our waiter did not rush us. We ordered very simple stuff and even got gift certificates for another visit! little hard to find since the outside has no sign - Look for the small number 17 on a white wall as you walk down Barrow St

    Romantic Special Place

I finally got to go to One If By Land after years of living in NY. And I was not at all disappointed. The place is cozy and classy and refined. The food is elegantly prepared and the service is impeccable. I actually avoided the Beef Wellington and tried the monkfish instead, which was moist and flaky and delicious. My dinner companion had the roasted lobster, which I highly recommend. We both had the Lichido Coladas, which we're both already craving. And, of course, the chocolate souffle for dessert, which was delish. But then again, I have yet to meet a chocolate souffle I didn't like.

    Hate to say it

I know so many people that love this restaurant, that I have hesitated writing this review. But here goes. Yes, the ambiance is exquisite and yes, the martinis are the best in NYC. The service can be a bit testy, but overall seems fine. Now for the rub. The food wasn't so outstanding. The Beef Wellington had the flavor of what a friend calls "wedding beef." The pastry was soggy and the meat tasteless. My guests each had a fish and neither would order (or eat here for that matter) again. The prices are very steep when you factor in what you are paying for. I have never seen this restaurant reviewed in a newspaper and always wondered why.

    Nice But OverPriced

Beautiful and romantic, but a little snobby and a lot overpriced!

    If proposing go here...

My boyfriend takes me here for my birthday every year, it is romantic and the food is excellent. The fire places warm you with pleasant atmosphere during the winter and the roses during summer make you want to cuddle with your loved one. Get the beef wellington.

My boyfriend loves it - me not so much

I guess it's romantic, but it's also crowded and a touch snobbish. I find it too ostentatious for my taste and the wait staff is attentive to the point of unctuousness. Not really my cup of tea but my boyfriend adores it, so if it makes him happy...
