Olympic Flame Diner

I hit the Olympic Flame last night for the first time, so this is based on only one eating experience. The matzah ball soup was good, but that's hard to ruin. The mozzarella sticks and the sauce with them were very good. However, the surprise was the Veal Marsala, which I must have had in 20 or more restaurants over my lifetime, and this was as good or better than any of them - a quite huge portion of veal over rice, everything served steaming hot. The vanilla ice cream was pretty standard vanilla ice cream, but the two scoops must have come to almost a pint of ice cream in total. The service was excellent, the staff extremely friendly, and the place is so delightfully clean and bright that you could almost put a photo of it in a dictionary as a definition of 'clean and bright'. Amazing surprise for me in this area, and I will be going back often, because the menu is fairly huge and I saw about 15 or 20 other things I would like to try. But in a pinch, I can always opt again for the Veal Marsala!

You arrive and are seated. Someone might bring you a menu and/or a beverage. They take your order AND never return. Amazing! You're sitting there like a fool with money in your pocket waiting for an order that never arrives. The waiters and waitresses, all of them, obviously would prefer to be somewhere else. That's OK but, how does the food get from the kitchen to the customer's table? I don't know. Mine never arrived. Is it that difficult to place the order with the kitchen and return to the table with it? Must be. Mine never arrived. So, you might go to the cashier, without a check, and pay for the beverage you drank. Everyone is very sorry you didn't also get something to eat. Instead of being sorry, someone should figure out how to get the order from the kitchen to the customer's table. That's the best part of going to the diner - ordering and getting to eat what you order. I wonder who ate my order. At the Olympic Flame, I didn't.

Don't eat in or order out from here. Delivery order was botched and when they brought a replacement they wanted the old food back. Guess they don' t care about keeping a customer. On 1 occasion ordered chicken pot pie. The waitress brought the salad and after I had eaten half of it she said they were out of the chick pie. Ordered a fish sandwich and bill charged me for the fish deluxe since I had already eaten the salad because I did not know I would not get my original order.

My wife and I had our new daughter at St. Luke's down the block, and I'm so glad Olympic was nearby. They were open late enough to accommodate a quick bite after getting admitted and the diner food is pretty good. The pastrami sandwich was excellent, the mozzarella sticks were just ok. The chicken fingers as fries were good as was the baked potato. Definitely try here if you're at St. Luke's for a few days. Staff is really nice too.

Their menu is that of a traditional diner with some innovations. I've only had their hamburger deluxe platter, which was quite flavourful.

Great diner with great service. I live in the area and order delivery and go to the diner frequently. They have the best filet of sole and turkey meatloaf I've ever had. Olympic flame is the best restaurant in hells kitchen and the upper west side. possibly all of manhattan

I've been stopping in here for a few years, now...my son's school is nearby and he and his mom live a few blocks away..whether it's weekend breakfast, or dinner of an evening, we have always left with a feeling of satisfaction, from the food quality and taste, to the price and service level. A nice touch is the semi-outdoor glassed-in sidewalk sitting area, where you can eat and relax and watch the world go by. Very convenient to Lincoln Center, so try eating there after you attend a performance some evening.
