Good food, wide-ranging menu, fast service, which is either bad or good depending on whether you're in a hurry. Some reviewers complained about service; we didn't have any problems. Wait staff were friendly and helpful, if hyper. If i lived in the neighborhood I'd eat here regularly, or get takeout. One suggestion: there's no sign or other indication but you need to take a number when you get on line. We had several different kinds of steamed dumplings, squid & peanuts in hot oil, steamed pork bun (yum), small ribs in black bean sauce, beef balls...

I was very excited when Ollie's opened on 42ST. Food was terrific but over the last couple of months its been on a slide down and it just went over the cliff for me. Shrimp smells of ammonia, brown sauce is many days old. Just ordered Hunan beef and hot and spicy soup. The only thing edible was the crunchy wonton noodles. I'll give them another try in a couple of weeks but I think they struck out.

The waitors were short and impatient, not fluent in English. The food tasted greasy and too oily...and the waitors were rushing us to finish as well....

I used to love their Diced Chicken in Hot Pepper Sauce with Peanuts, however, the last several times that I've ordered it, it was more like stir-fried peanuts with a few tiny pieces of chicken. It really should be called Peanuts with a few bits of Chicken, and it wasn't at all spicy.

Normally I am a big fan of Ollie's, great dumplings, pork buns, noodles etc. However, tonight I ordered the baby shrimp and chicken in brown sauce and the shrimp had not been deveined. I know this isnt really a big deal but I find it very unappetizing.

You have to be in the right frame of mind to go to Ollies or even to order take out. The servers are rude and dismissive. The food, however, is pretty good. Just go there knowing you will be treated like crap so there are no surprises and you can enjoy the food.

I order from Ollies for lunch about 3 times a week. My order is always correct and the food is very good. I wouldn't call it fine dining but it is by far one of the best chinese take-out/eat in for the price in the city.
