"Best sandwiches in the neighborhood" is really not saying much since there's hardly anything affordable in SoHo anymore. Olive's food is good but nothing to write home about and really expensive. On top of that their employees are really rude and generally unpleasant.

Olive's is hands down the best lunch-to-go spot in Soho. The price is more than worth it because of the quality ingredients they use. I find the service to be consistently friendly; they are just really busy. The Thursday Special Sandwich is probaby the most perfect sandwich ever, and I highly recommend the others as well. The Ceasar Salad is my other favorite. I must also mention the vanilla pudding with raspberries as it is divine. Eat there; wait in line if you have to; it moves fast; you won't regret it.

This place has the most amazing array of sandwiches I've ever had in my life. So much so that I eat there about 5 times a week, and I can't afford it. And I crave it when I go out of town. Seriously. With their "Daily Specials" you can choose from the special sandwich, special soup, special salad, market salad (typically bigger with meat of some kind) or 1/2 sandwich and 1/2 soup. Not to mention the UNBELIEVABLE cookies, particularly the Cowboy Cookie. (Oatmeal cookie with chocolate and nuts. To die for.) Every Thursday the special sandwich is the avocado sandwich. I never cared too much for avocados until I had this sandwich. On wheat bread with chipotle mayo, onions, bean sprouts and cheddar cheese...it's so good! But go early because they sell out everytime. However if you're looking for a place to sit and eat, this is not for you. Perfect for takeout if you work or live in the area.

The best place in New York for fresh, healthy sandwiches. They need to open in Brooklyn, Williamsburg. They'd make a killig.

I was enamored with this place for about 2 weeks. The sandwiches here are pricey and pre-made but delicious, I haven't had any of the pastries but the cookies are pretty good as well. However, the customer service is lacking and has officially turned me off. I don't think they get the concept that you can choose to be fast AND pleasant; it doesn't have to be an either or situation (and I'm born and raised here so I'm used to attitude). I probably won't swear off this place entirely, but I'm limiting it to a once in a blue moon outing.

Many people in my office order from Olive's but that's because they make at least 100K a year and don't feel the weight of the cost as much as I, a lowly assistant, would feel. I first went there for a snack to calm my nerves before my job interview. I had a pastry and a lemonade which while pretty good, cost me $6-7. I know it's Soho but I've found many other reasonably priced cafe's around here.

Although in a great location, Olives does not offer a satisfying lunch option. The menu is limiting and the portions are rather small for the price.
