it could have been better with no effort at all
waitress very nice and kept checking back. margarita's too sweet nachos a mess of glop oliver's burger. ok but but fried onions were a tad burned special homemade chicken soup would have been ok except for excessive cilantro and the oliver special salad had absolutely no flavor. lettuce a bit watery and the 'special' dressing , well, couldn't taste it.

Ehhh
Well this place isn't what boxers was. The staff is full of self loving folks, the food is hit or miss, and the drink prices are out rageous considering the bars in the area are cheaper! If I had this joint it wouldn't be like this!!!!

Disappointing barfare in NYC
Three of us went to lunch here the other day and it was by FAR the worst food I've had in NYC. As seems to be the choice in all these reviews, I had the turkey burger. It was dry, tasteless and served atop a stale bun. I got salad instead of fries and it was OK. My friend ordered the soup and described it as a salty mess of cheap ingredients. My other friend had a burger and fries and as the other reviews stated, the fries were awful and seemed old. It wasn't pricey but it was honestly the worst food I've had ever especially given that the area is so good for eating out. What a shame Oliver's is. I really can't believe they stay open for business.

not a great place
I went with 3 other people. Literally every single one of us had a problem with our food, and we are not picky people. Beer was undrinkably flat, turkey burger was a blob of fat, a salad was doused in essentially honey (not "honey mustard" as it was supposed to be)...worst of all, the server, as in the other review, was surly and acted as if it was our problem. Worst food I have ever had in NYC after living here for 10 years. It's astonishing they keep the doors open. How hard is it to serve decent bar food--and they have such a great location, too.

Poorest food/drink experience in NYC
Only went there because we happened to be in the area and, as the other reviews all state, it looks inviting from the outside, and was relatively quiet inside. The reasons for the lack of patrons quickly became apparent. The waitress seemed out of her mind, my Jameson on the rocks was literally gone in 4 sips - that's how small the pour was. When I complained about the size of the drink, she said she'd already poured more than she was supposed to, and that she'd be "fired" if she poured any more. When I asked how much the drink was - I found out that it was $8. Plus $1.50 for ice. I have never in my life been charged for ice in my drink. (Works out at about 50c a cube + tax). "The owner charges for stuff" was the manager's explanation for this. To describe my food - I will quote Amber B.'s review, as I felt the exact same way about my Turkey Burger: "tasteless and came on a hard, stale, bun, and the fries were straight from the frozen food section- like the leftovers from yesterdays' McDonald's meal". My girlfriend had the Ruby Grapefruit salad which contained no goat cheese. Rather than trying to make things right, the server just got exasperated that we weren't satisfied, and the manager told us there was "nothing she could do", and that the usual thing to do if you weren't happy with a restaurant was to "leave". They didn't comp us anything (not even the $1.50 ice-surcharge per drink), made no effort to satisfy us, or apologize for the miniscule drink pours and food. If you read this review and still decide to go to Oliver's, don't say you haven't been warned. It seems their sole intention is of getting as much cash out of your wallet as possible while you are there, because they know as well as the customer that the chance of repeat business is slim-to-none.

Only been there once...
But they had the best macaroni and cheese I've ever had in this city, and I'm very picky.
