We ate here last night and have to say I was a little disappointed. The restaurant itself is great...very much a "men's club" and what you'd expect from a top notch steakhouse. The service was poor. We even had to ask to see a menu because the waiter never thought to bring one over. I was really surprised. The breadstick appetizer was the best! Very original and tasty. The Carpaccio was excellent as were the Ceasar and iceburg salads. Drinks were a little weak though so stick to wine. I had their signature 30+ ounce steak, ordered it medium rare and it came out charred and medium. Another at our table had the same experience. At $39 a pop, they could have definitely done better. The Prime Rib, however was excellent. Given we spent almost $300 for 3 people (and that included only 3 cocktails), I was really disappointed. I've definitely had better experiences for less money.

This is by far the best New York Steakhouse! The food is superb, the service impeccable. The drinks HUGE and the atmosphere elegant but not stuffy! It is wonderful for a celebration! Go as soon as you can!

I've eaten at The Old Homestead a number of times. Aside from the food being very good and served in huge portions, they have a professional wait staff that makes you feel attended to without being opressive. I highly recommend this restaurant!

What an overpriced meal with poor service. We had 9pm reservations and weren't seated till 9:45, then we had to go find our waiter and tell him we were ready to order b/c he was setting up other tables. Garlic mashed potatoes were dry and I detected no garlic and the creme brulee was burnt! We got the porterhouse for 2 medium rare and I had to saw into my meat even though it was cooked medium rare.

My wife and I had the Kobe Ribeye for 2, it was like eating air with a meat flavor. Yes it is spendy but well worth it. The service is second to none! The enire staff works together and they leave you alone to enjoy your meal. I can't say enough.

If you love beef, this steakhouse will outshine every other place in the city. Try the heavy cut sirloin. It's big enough for any appetite and comes perfectly cooked, juices flowing all through the meat. I recently had the lamb chops and recieved another generous portion of expertly prepared food. The decor is nice and traditional, but simple. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly, but they need better organization. If you are looking for high end decor and modern atmosphere go to the V steakhouse or to Strip House, if you want to have the best steak in the city, try Old Homestead.

Our family just returned from a wonderful trip to New York City and had the luck of stumbling upon the Old Homestead Saturday evening! We had the pleasure of eating outside, enjoying the atmosphere of the The Village and enjoying the best food during the trip. The Prime Rib was wonderful, the New York Sirloin was just as good and the Rack of Lamb was tender and fantastic!!! The wait staff was most attentive and the drinks were perfect!! Do not miss the Old Homestead when in New York,,,,,it is well worth the wait!
