    Solid steakhouse

Not that big (although it is two floors) but it maintains a "classic steakhouse" feel. We sat upstairs w a 6pm reservation on a Wednesday night. There were just a few patrons there when we arrived but was packed to the gills when we got the check at ~830. Very good food: we shared the lump crabmeat app, I had the filet-on-the-bone, and we shared a side of tater tots. Overall it was great. Pricey, of course, but great. Would return.

    Second Class Citizen!

Food was phenomenal, lets start there. However, I've never been treated quite as much like a second class citizen in my life. The staff was largely rude and impatient. On numerous occasions the waiter stopped halfway through addressing our table to go wait on another table where he clearly assumed there would be a larger tip. I wouldn't waste my time at the Old Homestead NYC again. There are too many phenomenal steakhouses in NYC to be frustrated by such an experience. Unless you are a regular at this restaurant, go to Peter Luger's, Del Monico's, etc. Much, much better comprehensive dining experience.

    Fantastic

Went there last week with a few friends to celebrate a couple of birthdays. The meal was fantastic from the appetizers to the dessert. A better steakhouse cannot be found.

    I am a reguler @ old homestead

I been comming to the old Homestead steak house for about five years now and its something that I crave for every now and then. What prompted me to write a review was all the really wrong reviews about this steak house. If you believe the negative reviews your missing out on good foood and good service. The only cut I order is the gothem rib-eye steak cooked to medium and I crave it every now and then. I have eaten the coby burger there but its not good there. I have eaten Koby meet and you could never say a bad thing about koby beef, its like amazing. I love Old homestead, so recommend it.

    Not recommended

Just had bachelor party dinner here on Saturday night with a 9:30 pm reservation and the staff made my party of 15 wait around until finally seating us at 11:30 pm! Horrible experience. Steaks are good but there are many, many other better steak houses in the city. The staff was horrible, from the 2 hosts to the waiters. Avoid this overpriced landmark.

Don't go here for a group reservation

We had reservations for a party of 12. We ended up waiting nearly 2 hours. Would have left, but the staff kept on saying 15 minutes. Very unprofessional. Otherwise, food was good, but definitely never go here for a big group event.
