    Awesome spot!

Visited Oficina Latina on a Saturday night. around 11. Found a parking spot right around the corner on Elizabeth St. From the outside, it was packed. We walked in and immediately and warmly were greeted by the hostess. She quickly took us to a small cozy table kind of toward the back to the right, behind the bar. The chairs were upholstered and very soft, so we sunk in when we sat down. Next, a server brought plantain chips and sweet potato chips and water served in a very alluring antique bottle! Loved that! The chips were fresh and flavorful. Yum! Nice way to start it off. For drinks I ordered a regular caipirinah and he ordered a blueberry caipirinah. The waitress who was lovely, friendly and quite attentive, brings me the kumquat instead of the regular. She apologizes, says I can try it and if I don't like it, she'll bring me the regular. I LOVED it! The drink was amazing! I ordered a few tapas dishes. The garlic shrimp were enormous and succulent; the vegetarian arepa was interesting but enjoyable; and the pan seared crab cakes (3) were small but packed an incredible punch of flavor! The crab cakes were spectacular. The accompaniment of tomato, mixed greens and mushrooms was perfection. My friend had the pear and arugula salad with goat cheese. The presentation of the salad was eye catching. But the taste far out did the presentation. Yet another perfect dish. The service was friendly, attentive, swift without being pushy and overbearing. Oficina Latina has definitely become an instant favorite.

    Disappointing food

Four of us had dinner at Oficina Latina on a Thursday night. With a reservation, our table was ready on arrival, and for the rest of the evening the service was pleasant and efficient. The specialty cocktails were many and tasty, and the selection of spirits, wine and beer was predictable but alright. We loved the ambiance, which was warm and cute, though some of the decor is a little cheesey and it was quite loud. Unfortunately, the food was a huge letdown. Though the menu was interesting and inviting, what arrived to our table was completely underseasoned, flavorless, and a sad excuse for the vibrant cuisines of the region. The prices would have been reasonable if the food had been even passable, but for food so terribly uninspired, I felt robbed.

    Absolutely Love

The ambiance inside Oficina is comfortable, charming and very cool. The portion sizes were surprisingly large too. For tapas, we had the calamari salad (4 huge pieces of grilled calamari on top of arugula salad), the lamb skewers (3 loaded skewers of delicious lamb, apple and some grilled vegetables) and the pork and cotija meatballs- which were amazing. Entrees came with a great portion of meat as well. Service was great too. Overall, an awesome spot. We will definitely be back to try different tapas.

    Poor service

Felt the need to write because I had the most disappointing service of my life having dinner here last night. The waitress was inattentive, rude, and slow--we waited 25 minutes for our drinks after ordering them 4 times. She told us that she would comp us our first round after we complained and then she never did. It was one of the most unappetizing margaritas I have ever had (and I am usually not particular about my liquor). The hostess was rude when she sat us--telling us that we had to be out at a certain time because of another reservation (even though we had made a reservation ourselves). The chicken was too salty. The lamb was good but the mashed plantains that came with it were too sweet. Overall really disappointing experience.

    My new favorite joint!

Very good food, even better service, Outstanding cocktails, attentive owners and close-to-perfect atmosphere - what else can you ask? I found this place on a late nigh hungry-walk and loved it! Our waiter was a brazilian guy that knew what he was talking: recommended our food and cocktails with the biggest confidence and it all was great! The skewers and the mixed grapes caipirinha are a must-try!

    In Waiting

First off, we literally waited 25 minutes to get the check. We were sitting at the bar, we first asked one guy, the guy who had been serving us for most of the time and then we proceeded to ask the other two guys.. until FINALLY we got the check. No apology, no explanation nothing. That said, we did try the shrimp which was very good, but we also waited at least 15 minutes for the shrimp because we ordered it as our starter but didn't get it until it came with our entree. Considering the poor service, probably won't be going back for a long time, even though the food was above average.
