Not Worth It
Let me start this off by saying I am a seasoned diner and have eaten at many restaurants worldwide including many 5star places. Overall: 2 stars. Food - This is without a doubt the only good feature of the restaurant. The food was well prepared and presented and if not for the food, I would have walked out of this place. Everything from the Indian soup to the Wild sturgeon to the Desserts was well done. Service - As soon as I walked in I could feel the heads turn in question of why I was there. My wife and I found that our cutlery and our wine glasses were not clean (stains on the wine glass were difficult to miss by anyone). The waiter did not seem to care. Value - While the food is excellent, it is overpriced, making the dining experience there not worth the money you spend. Atmosphere - The restaurant was mostly quiet but the decor is definitely overated and simple at best. I do not recommend this dining experience.

Expectations too high?
The service was outstanding - some of the best in the city. I also loved the room (we dined upstairs) and the small bar is a gem for a drink and quiet conversation. The food was a let down. Beets and papaya, while adding color, did little for my soft shell crab. The signature loup de mer lacked any hint of tamarind or wasabi, while the "glazed bok choy" accompaniment tasted like reheated frozen chopped broccoli. My rhubarb dessert was too sweet, overpowering the tartness of the rhubarb while the ice cream topping had melted completely into a vanilla puddle on presentation. Each dish lacked the intensity, complexity and combination of flavors that I so look forward to when dining at this caliber of restaurant.

Beats Le Bernardin
I have been dining at Oceana since it first opened--many years--and the food is a dream, the service the best in Manhattan--courteous, professional and knowledgeable. The new chef is better than Rick Moonen and better than Eric Ripert. Don't miss this place. In all these years I had one dinner that was not perfect, but they made up for it on spades the next visit. The desserts are also top-notch.

Best service in New York
Amazing service in this exceptional seafood restaurant. Had the tasting which was fantastic, one dish after another. The highlight was the service which was polite, professional and sincere. What a night! Thank You.

The best in a city of great restaurants.
What a marvelous find. The food, presentation and wine selection are flawless. Do not pass up the dessert selections.

Very Good
Just wanted to try this place and it turned out to be fantastic. The flavors were creative and imaginative without being precious or annoying. It's the type of food where you take a bite and can't help but smile at the combination of flavors. The Loup de Mer was exceptional as was everything else. One drawback, if you can call it that, was the atmosphere...a bit snoozy and quiet enough to hear a pin drop. Not exactly Balthazar, but then again neither is the food.

Perfect!!
Luxurious 4 star service and seafood like i've never even imagined. Worth the high prices.
