    best seafod in ny

I cannot disagree more with the review below. I also have been eating at oceana since it opened and find the new location better than ever, except it can get noisy. The chef is creative and accomodating and they have one of the best trained staffs in NY. I cannot possibly imagine who that co owner was--it just seems so contrary to every experience i have had at oceana.

    Cocktails Anyone....

Often head here after work for amazing cocktails and bar snacks. It's become my Go-To spot. Have Ektoras (bartender) shake you up one of his signature drinks. Fried calamari is a must have.

What Happened To This Once Excellent Establishment?

“Oceana is no longer the excellent restaurant it was...” adds Ryan Sutton. [Bloomberg] I definitely agree! However, try telling that to one of the co-owners (and not the more significant one). I had dinner to the tune of $200+ and was completely underwhelmed. What happened? This isn't the Oceana I remember! Expressing my dissastifaction provoked a response that it was somehow my fault I was not "wow'ed" by the food. I ordered filet mignon, stone crab claws, lobster stuffed with crab and a couple of vegetable side dishes. It wasn't bad. It was just so mundane, no real depth of flavor to anything. I've had more excellent meals at one third the price. C'est la vie. However, I was more than surprised at the cavalier and unfriendly response I received from management. Oh well, I guess as a co-owner, you can treat customers any way you choose.

    still great

I was a regular patron of oceana on 54th street and was apprehensive to visit this new location.. Have since been there for lunch and dinner. the food and service are as great as ever and the chef is superb--the best, in a long line of good chefs. if yoy like fish, dont miss it!

    Big improvement

Went to the new location last night and it was a huge improvement from the last space. More open. Fabulous decor. Great wine/beer list. The food was perfectly cooked and very tasty. I had only been to the old location once but I remember leaving hungry! Not this time. We even got a complimentary entree. Will definitely return!

try it if you can afford it!

went last night thinking it would be part of RW, it wasn't but prices seemed fair - maybe cos of the discounts for their soft opening. Food was amazing but portions were small. Wait staff attentive and knowledgeable. I put 2.5 on atmosphere cos it caters to more of the "suits" crowd - some bearing trophy wives. They're never any fun. I came in with jeans and flipflops and wasn't snubbed away. Everyone was great. I would go again if I can afford it. It costs us over $100 for 2ppl - and they charge for sauce?! wtf? Try the stuffed calamari and crispy striped bass - yum, pass the gnocchi - it was tasteless. Oh and the bathrooms were so beautiful! I always appreciate that! Bon Apetite!

    Great Food, VG Service

For seafood, Oceana and Le Bernadin and probably the two best choices. Though we took the Restaurant Week choices, the food was extremely good. Service was quite solicitous, available whenever needed. I have, on prior occasions, have tried their various tasting menus and none have disappointed.
