Amazing sushi!
This restaurant only has high quality sushi, excellent presentation and very friendly staff. We have ordered from here many times and have never been disappointed. It's the best sushi on the upper west side.

next best thing to Yuki
Since Yuki Sushi closed, this is the only place we order from in the neighborhood. Fish is fresh, service is fast. Place is small and quiet, though not a lot of tables.

Awesome sushi!
I am a regular customer at Obento and I have always been happy with my meals! I've gotten the teriyaki, pork katsu, and almost all of their specialty rolls (upper west side is the best!). The food is extremely authentic- I've traveled extensively in Japan and I can vouch for that! My friends and I order in a lot from there, but we also like to eat in the restaurant. It's small, but I like that it's not a huge chain restaurant. The owners are friendly and great for conversation! The service is always fantastic, even when they're really busy. I've never had a bad experience there and I highly recommend it!

no good
Having some decent Japanese joints in our neighborhood, we only today decided to give this place a shot, especially since the menu seems authentic Japanese. How wrong we were. We ordered delivery for Soba, pork katsu curry and gyoza. The soup stock was bland, the soba noodles bloated and half of the soup consisted of cabbage as a filler. Went right to the garbage. The curry was Chinese -- very salty, thin yet starchy, and fast-cooked (unlike japanese sweet, slow-cooked curry). instead of potatoes and carrots it had tons of onion, and onion alone. We'll skip the gyoza. Lastly, when we called to let the restaurant know how we felt and give constructive criticism, without any request for refunds/compensation, we found a complete disinterest. A completely hopeless restaurant.

out ya mind.
this place is a gem. good food at a nice price, and the owner and staff are great. 20 people can party there, i've done it myself.

Not recommended
Last night my girlfriend and I got a carry out. First, they screwed up the order, gave us things we didn't want, and left out things that we did. Next, the food was somewhere between mediocre and lousybland soba noodle soup, cloying inuri, and sushi rolls that looked as though they had been stepped on. And best of all? When I stopped by today to ask that the restaurant reverse the charges on my credit card, they said, "We can't do that. You have to talk to the boss." I won't hold my breath on him getting back to me.

one of my favorites
I always order from obento b/c it's got fast service and the food is always great! I always get the sashimi deluxe when I'm raelly hungry or the upper west roll and tripple roll. It's definitely a lot cheaper than most sushi places, but the quality is still very good! I also eat at the restaurant too- the last poster obviously doesn't enjoy a cozy atmosphere that a mom & pop restaurant can give you. If you're looking for a giant chain restaurant, you're going to be disappointed.
