Good food and value
The Singapore laksa resembles the laksa I had in Singapore. Pork Belly is great. Service is a bit slow at lunch, but at dinner the staff are very attentive. The all night Happy Hour from Sunday through Wednesday is a good reason to visit them as well

freezing restaurant . food not great
it was so cold we had to put our jackets back on and ordered lots of tea. the food was so spicy none of us could finish our papaya salad. the whole fish was so mushy and old the bones that prevented us from eating much of it were probably a good thing. we were happy to leave. the servers were in good spirits they just couldn't seem to communicate with any of the customers in the restaurant.

Very Expensive & not enough food
I went to lunch with a group of friends today at the newly opened Obao at 33 water st. We all chose the Lunch Special for $8.50 which consist of 2 entries and the choice of white rice or brown rice for $1 extra. We order a variety of choices like Basil Chicken, Panang Beef and Eggplant Vegetarian Duck with Tofu. The place is very small, and appears more to be like a "take out" food place and not a restaurant. The display of food isn't great. For our surprise we were very disappointed at the small amount of food served for the price ($9.25 with tax). The place ran out of Brown Rice, and it was only 1pm! The servings were very small, only a few pieces of meat in each container, and the food wasnt all that great. The food is not worth $9.25 for the "lunch special". Considering that this place just opened up, I was expecting a great food. I will not recommend this place to anyone

Great value in Midtown East
My wife and I live in the area and are big fans of this place. Food is good and is a great value, especially if you can make it for the early bird dinner or lunch specials. We have had both the Thai and Vietnamese food and enjoyed both. Also the 2-1-2 special on Thurs-Sat is awesome. Can't ever complain when you get draft beer for $2!

Tired lettuce, bad food
Tried this for takeout. The lettuce was wilted and should hav been binned. The food had spent too many hours under the heat lamp. This goes to the there are too many restaurants in NY to try again rule.

Tea please?
The food here was mediocre, came here with a few colleagues for lunch and was highly disappointed with the service and food. Not only were the wait staff unattentive, but it took an eternity to garner their attention. The worse part was when the bill came and we were charged almost 5 dollars per person for tea, what kind of restaurant charges for tea, and $5 dollars for that matter? They didn't even offer us a choice (even though they had a selection), and gave us whatever tea they deemed fit, and albeit at 5 bucks a pop. Never again will I step food into this establishment

Good Thai
I've tried most of the Thai places in the vicinity of the East 50s. I think this is the best one, although this was the first time ordering. Food is good and delivery was relatively quick. I had the Tofu and Eggplant dish; Calamari appetizer; and bangkok chicken platter. All were very good. I'd order from here again.
