The food here is really good. I've tried several Malaysian restaurants and this is the best. If you're a native of South East Asia, you'd know this is an authentic Malaysian restaurant. Service may not be that great, but the food more than makes up for it.

I've been to Nyonya on numerous occassions, but yesterday wasn't one of the better experiences I've had. For the first time, the roti was not up to par. It tasted like it has been sitting around for a bit, kinda disappointing. All the other dishes that we ordered weren't bad (mango chicken, sizzling tofu, hainese chicken, etc). The service wasn't that great either, it took forever for them to refill our water and some of the waiters/waitress started clearing our table even before we were done. It will definitely be a WHILE before I decide to go back again.

Becareful when you're there for 'lunch specials' because if you aren't very specific they'll charge you full dinner price. When I told them about the questionable bill they were very confrontational and insisted *FIERCLY* that I've ordered the dinner version instead. I've tried to explain it very nicely to no avail. Assuming from their well prepped instantaneous defense drill I guess they go through this routinely. I ended up paying full price for they would not budge and I was too embarassed to go on. The difference was $4.95 vs $9.95.

Nyonya is actually in Little Italy, so it is somewhat of a secret, but it is worth going a few blocks north of Canal to find it. It is so unbelievably cheap, and so amazingly delicious, that I go there every time I am in Chinatown. The decor is very simple and earthy, and it's fun to watch the live fish even if you have no intention of eating it. The menu is extensive and, for some of the more exotic items, very funny. Service is fast and courteous. A hit!
