Yummmm!
Absolutely love this neighborhood Italian place! Order the caprese salad, fried egg plant & macaroni. Delish. Will definitely go back time and time again. Wish they had outdoor seating for the summer months -- oh well!

Rushed service and cramped tables
Our main courses were presented at the time our appetizer plates were removed. When we refused to accept them our server said we should have asked for slow service. In fact, because we dine out often, we requested some time between courses when we ordered. Table about as cramped together as I have ever seen.

Excellent serivce, disappointing pasta
Went here for first time last night. Wine and service were excellent, however the two pasta dishes were absolutely unappetizing. So bad that we kept putting salt and pepper atop them but to no avail. Having lived in NYC for years and gone to Italy numerous times, all I thought, was, "wow, this is really really bad!" We were inclined to send both dishes back but decided instead to not return. How can an Italian place serve such disappointing pasta of all things? My linguine was raw (not al dente) and tasteless and her pesto dish had nary pesto in it. Both dishes tasted as if the cook had put red and light green food coloring in water and served them to us with uncooked pasta. Semifreddo dessert was good. (must have been made from an outside vendor), hence the 1.5 stars.

eww
Server was italian with cute accent. Friendly and tenacious. However - I ordered the Veal and it was so awful. It does not say on the menu that the veal is breaded. It came out breaded with a few pieces of lettuce on top. It was DRY, tough, flavorless. No sauce. I took it home and couldn't even eat it the next day.

Will definitely be back!
I went to this cute little restaurant for the first time...and it's truly a hidden gem. On top of all the great choices in the menu, they had tons of amazing specials. Very extensive wine list and really nice ambience. Everything was delicious...especially the pasta with shaved truffles...Can't wait to go back.

can't wait to go back
that's exactly what I said to my companion as we left Novita after a wonderful lunch. I recommend the mixed mushrooms as an appetizer and the apple tart for dessert. You're on your own for your entree. All good.

Yum, Will Definitely Go Back
Last saturday night at around 9pm or so we went looking around the area for a place to eat and thought we'd check out 2 of our favorite places (Gramercy Tavern and BLT Prime) to see which one was able to seat us. On the way to BLT we saw Novita and decided to ask if they had any availability as the place was packed full (often a good sign of good food in my book). Much to our surprise we were seated promptly as people at two tables next to each other were just leaving. The place is tiny so of course the tables are thisclose. Fortunately no one was at the table next to us so it felt a bit more intimate. We had the spaghetti frutti di mare and a special ravioli pasta stuffed with kobe beef and, i believe, spinach. Both dishes were excellent! The freshly made pastas were perfectly cooked and the frutti di mare had a lot of seafood with one big scallop, one big shrimp, one big something else I can't remember, and a good amount of calamari and rock shrimp - simply divine. The ravioli did not disappoint either. We ordered the chocolate tart for dessert, which was the perfect end to a scrumptious meal. We'll definitely go back again.
