    Beautiful location

It was a nice chilly Sunday evening that my friends and I gathered to try out the Restaurant Week menu at Nougatine. The ambiance was perfect, intimately casual, and allowing for great catching up and conversation. The restaurant week menu, especially the skate with pumpkin seeds, was the best amongst other restaurant week food I've had. We also tried the roasted chicken and the oozing goat cheese fondue from the a la carte menu and both were very well prepared. Will return to try brunch.

Go for the $35 special menu

Try the 4 course pre-fix at $35 -- it's certainly a very good value. But some items can be very disappointing. It's almost as if they're trying too hard to be inventive or to keep their Michelin star. Certain textures and flavors just don't work well together or, at least, fail to produce a satisfying result. Always very good dessert! The service is slow so go on a night when you want to relax and have no need to rush. Some of the waiters' English is incomprehensible.

    absolutely worth a try

we went there yesterday evening. the restaurant week menu is set with no options like other restaurants with 2 or 3 choices for entrees. Instead, we had two entrees, one salmon and one beef. I esp. take to the salmon. I have never tasted such good salmon. And the beef is tender too. The dessert is absolutely a pleasant surprise. On the restaurant week menu, it says dessert tasting, which I deem should be of minor portion. But it turned out a big plate with several varieties plus extra compliments. It's absolutely worth more than $35.

    average!

As a french person, I was exited by the idea of getting a great lunch for a medium price in such a great address...though my expectations were not met: though there is plenty of personnel to take care of you, the actual service on the table is far from being perfect: first 2 dishes arrived fast, desert, a while after. Wine was spilled three times until we told the waiter to be careful! and the talking maneers were average. Regarding the food,we had the lunch menu (27$). The starter was too cold (just got out of the fridge!) and the salmon could have been a little more cooked. desert was average though we were offered an extra warm chocolate cake (fondant) that was ok. the Savenniere wine (white) was great. This was not the most amazing place even if the location is worth it. I would definetly not recommend this one. The Jean Georges (the chic restaurant), next door, hopefully is better!

    Ick

I went out with a few girlfriends to Nougatine for restaurant week, and it was just an overall negative experience. The service was slow, the food was mediocre, and the server didn't know the wine list. We sat down at 7:45 and didn't leave until 10:30, it was not our preference to have a 3 hour dinner. The food was a mixture of tastes that just seemed to clash, either out collective pallets were missing the objective or the food was just strange. The people were friendly and the atmosphere was swank and nice, but would I recommend it, definitely not.

    Great lunch!

I had lunch here with a girlfriend, and it was wonderful. The room is light and airy and very pleasant, the service was gracious, and the food was outstanding. We both had the prix fixe menu, and it's a major bagain. I had the pea soup which was delicate and sublime, skate wing cooked to perfection, the dessert was not phenomenal, it was some sort of tiny lemon cake with some forgettable cooked apples. The other dessert offering of chocolate sorbet looked much better. But all in all, we had a lovely time and would defintely go back!
