Have eaten here four or five times...very good every time; great little spot with good food, a quiet oasis right on Second Avenue...Friends couldn't believe the value, consdering the good food, attentive service, great ambiance..I recommend this place to out of towners looking for a nice place in a "real NY neighborhood."

A friend of mine kept raving about Notaro. He offered to treat me to lunch and I gladly accepted. The place absolutely blew me away! I am tempted to say that this is not only the best Italian restaurant in Manhattan but perhaps one of the four or five best restaurants in all of New York City. Yeah, it's that good. We both had the prix fixe lunch (a steal at $11.95). We started with eggplant rollitini. This was everything an appetizer is meant to be - the portion was just the right size and it really got you ready for the main course. The rollitini was sublime, stuffed with three cheeses and topped with one of the best red sauces I ever tasted. I am often hesitant to order red sauce in restaurants, since they rarely meet expectations. Notaro's sauce is perfection. We had the chicken francese as our main course - a huge chicken breast in a sultry lemon butter sauce accompanied by just the right amount of linguini. A few glasses of cold chardonnay complimented the meal perfectly, as did the delicious bread and olive oil that were on the table. The service was friendly, personal and unobtrusive. The decor is classic and the opera music in the background totally puts you in the mood for all things Italian. Notaro is a gem.

The service was the best I have seen in a long time. The food is excellent and a decent price.

My wife and I found Notaro by accident, since we were by 34th Street on the east side and were looking for a place to eat. We saw the restaurant and figured, what the heck. What a find! Wonderful food, very attentive service, intimate surroundings, and incredibly inexpensive. I have been back both with my family and for business lunches. An added bonus is that after 7:00 PM you can park on the street right near the restaurant.

The place doesn't look like much from the outside (as local residents, we can tell you Murray Hill is a great neighborhood to live in -- not to look at) but once you get inside, the place is cozy, romantic, quiet and the staff is really friendly and helpful. It doens't hurt that the food is great and the prices are incredibly low for what you get. It's a great place for a date (quiet and romantic). a great place to bring for parents or out-of-town guests and even more for a get-together with friends. In a city where there are hundreds of choices to dine, we keep going to Notaro over and over and over again.

Cozy place on a busy street...a little oasis. Very good food, nice sized portions, good service, fine "Upper East Side" ambiance. The best is the price: a "new" $13.95 fixed price meal before 6 is unbelievable; the $19.95 standard fixed price is terrific, too. This is a great place to eat before the theatre, park your car on the street, and cab it up to the show.

I love this place. It is so cozy and romantic. The food is delicious and the Prix fix dinner is a great value. I would recommend this place to anyone. I'm going back with all my friends next week. Give it a try, you will love it.
