    Off Night Perhaps?

Last night was the first time I tried Noodles 28. I was actually heading down 3rd to THAINY where I have gotten many take out selections and have always been satisfied. I saw Noodles 28 across the street and decided to try it instead as I always like to try different places. That's how one discovers new gems. Well this didn't turn out to be a gem for me. I ordered the Hot & Spicy Vietnamese Sauce with chicken and chow fun noodles (take-out). The vegatables were soggy and saturated with oil and the noodles were all at the bottom of the container in a solid like mass. There was no distinguishable taste to anything, just slight texture differences. Although there were 3 or 4 hot dried peppers mixed in, they must have been added at the very last moment as there was no spicyness to the rest of the oil soaked glop. After reading some of the other reviews which sounded good, I can only conclude that it may have just been an off night for the place. However, I don't think I will risk trying it again. I have been trying different places in NYC for the past 5 years and last night was the worse food yet.

    2 words...

Scallion pancakes. I hesitate to even write this review, for fear that there will be less for me. But alas, the greater good must prevail.

    nice people - good dumplings!

Best fried vegetable dumplings in NY. I've never had a bad meal and I eat there at least once a month. The staff is very nice. The waitress even remembered that I don't take ice in my water.

    Subpar noodles

Just tried my first noodle soup. Broth lacked flavor, noodles were shred to pieces, WAY too many bean sprouts. Not very good. Not at all.

Best Chinese in the 'hood, maybe NYC

We ate there last night and everything that came out was fresh and yummy. The steamed dumplings are fantastic and the General Tso's chicken isn't at all greasy or over-fried but flavorful and full of meat (instead of fried batter). We ordered a heap of food and the bill came to about $40 which isn't bad at all. The restaurant is clean, the service is quick.....and the egg rolls rule.

    Poor service, OK food

We ordered takeout, food was good, the service was poor. The lady at the counter had an attitude and was not polite. She also made us wait 5 minutes after we paid just to get some hot sauce. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
