Yum
Just ate here this evening. It was awesome! Had a gift certificate and had read a couple of not great reviews, so we were a little nervous since we hadn't been here before (especially about the service, which people had noted previously). However, we had an incredible experience from the moment we walked in until we left. Service was very quick and efficient, including the kitchen prep times. Wine selection was decent. For appetizers, we got the risotto balls and the endive salad, which were divine. Then we got lamb shank and the branzino, which were even better. The only thing that was a bit disappointing was the dessert - we tried the zeppoli, which were a bit too doughy. Espresso was well prepared, though! Highly recommend this adorable and tasty restaurant.

Homey Italian delight
I've been eating at Nonna since it opened, and I'm still discovering new goodies. First I thought I'd write about the antipasto platter with the delicious cold cuts, grilled vegetables, and amazing zucchini chips. But would that be fair to my favorite pasta, the strozzapreti? Still, the both seem ordinary compared with the zeppole, the lightest and tastiest rendition of this dessert in New York. The daily specials keep things interesting, and the Sunday night prix fixe is an amazing value -- we usually end up with enough leftovers for Monday's lunches. The atmosphere is funky and charming, and the staff are casual but professional -- really friendly. The back room is great for special parties -- our book club even meets there sometimes. Nonna has become a wonderful neighborhood tradition for my family.

Cute and Cozy
I come here all the time with my family. As a busy parent I need a quick meal that is appetizing and appealing. Nonna is great at these things. The atmosphere is cute and since I live on the upper westside it's very convenient. Sometimes when I have a babysitter I can sneak out with my husband and have a romantic night here. There are excellent waiters and delicious food and drinks. The portions are perfect and prices are decent. I highly recommend this place

Disappointed
Portions are tiny. My pasta "entree" was equal to a side order of pasta at any other place. So much so that I said, "That's it?" when the waiter brought it out. Really cute atmosphere, though. Too bad the food isn't better/bigger.

Ah-ma-zing
I am a customer who has frequently been coming since the beginning. This restaurant is quick and it is a good place to go with kids or without. Nice look to the place and friendly waiters.

Not recommended
We came here for an extended family sunday brunch with some kids. The waiter was atrocious. He was like a bull in a china shop, dropping silverware, knocking over cups, spilling things and not even apologizing for it. He started grabbing underneath my coat - thinking it was an extra menu - it wasn't - it was a holiday present i was waiting to gift - again, no apology. The food didn't all arrive at the same time - one of our sides was forgotten about until we had finished the mains - and then that's when they brought it. Again no apology, no explanation. We had a few kids who wanted ice cream - it was a big production about ice cream not being available... but its a side with the regular desserts - what is the big deal about putting a scoop of ice cream on a kid's plate? Then the waiter said he'd accommodate us by charging a $6 "dinner fee" for one scoop of ice cream. $6??? You don't even have to pay that at the top restaurants - where the stuff is made on premises Then the waiter would disappear. It took 30 min to get our check. Turns out he was hanging out at the bar with some staff, playing on the computer. As for the food - it was just ok - but definitely not worth the hassle of putting up with this place.

All hype - rip off central
$18 for SIX TINY pieces of the monday night special ravioli. I finished my meal in under 5 minutes despite it taking 20+ minutes to arrive. For the service, and the amount of food you get, this place is a rip off. It's lovely to sit outside, and so many people do, but please please GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Unless of course you like paying $$$$$ to go home hungry. Also, though the servers are friendly, they should probably take notes on what customers are asking for, so they don't forget to bring it time and time again.
