Best chicken wings in the city

I've been going to Noho Star for years, and the MVP of their menu has always been their chicken wings, which I consider to be amongst the greatest wings of all time. I may be partial, because this place was a huge part of my childhood, but there's no denying the supremacy of their wings. These aren't typical bar wings, nor are they supposed to blow you away with their spiciness - they're just really, really good. While the wings themselves are great, the blue cheese sauce is what takes it to another level. It's chunky goodness and you need to try it at least once. I agree with other posters regarding the hit or miss menu, but in my experience the service has always been great. The prices are definitely going up, but considering the location this comes as no surprise. Again, I'm biased because I grew up with this place, but in my opinion it has the best buffalo wings in the city.

    Used to be good

I have been going to noho star for over 2 years now, and always thought this was the best brunch in NYC. The restaurant must have gotten new chef's because they were unable to cook eggs and when i sent it back for being too raw they came back completely overdone, they just reused the same eggs i had sent back. The waitress was also brutal and forgot my toast and fork. I will never go back, ever.

    [sad trombone]

It is a question of how many mean things I want to say without tipping the karma scale against me. First, this place is unbelievably overpriced, even for the neighborhood. The appetizer was OK, but the rest of the food was mediocre at best. My girlfriend ordered a chicken burger. It was pink in the middle. The waitress explained this was because it was mixed with "some other stuff." Like what? Unclear. She sent it back. It came back with a new bun, a charred outer rim, but still pink inside. Top it all off with a really odd decor. I can't see how this place garners four stars. I can't see how eating there makes for anything other than a sad, pointless, but expensive dining experience.

    Pleasant return

The salmon bagel with paper thin sweet red onion, avocado, horseradish and capers was a real delight. Glances at the offerings being brought out from the bustling kitchen also looked delicious.

like moss on a tree, it just keeps growing back

i've been going to noho for a good ten years now and i just can't shake it. yes, the portions have gotten smaller and like any place, it has its off days, but it's still one of the best restaurants in town. i'm surprised no one has mentioned the chicken wings. the chicken wings are excellent! and i don't even like chicken wings that much! i don't know what it is about this place, but it's like crack. and i just keep coming back.

    Great atmosphere, food and service!

I took my mom here for Valentine's Day brunch and we had a great time! The design, atmosphere and open kitchen make this a very cool place for dining. The service was excellent ... everyone on the staff who assisted us was super polite, friendly, smiling and helpful ... they could not have been better. We had to wait about 5 minutes in the bar before being seated, not bad for a Saturday on a holiday weekend. The food was very good. Prices are OK. Being Valentine's Day, the staff presented my mother with a single rose -- a very nice touch! A great place for people watching too. Definately worth a visit!

    Amazing experience!

Recently ate here with a group of people. We ordered a lot of food to share, and everything was amazing! The portions are smaller than usual, but enough to fill us up. Out of the three deserts we ordered, the tapioca one with fruit on top was outstandingI almost cried, it was that good. Our waitress was extremely helpful, and always kept our glasses filled. I can't wait to go back!
