Find out what *real* mexican food is
I'm from New Mexico, and recently relocated to the UWS. There are lots of Mexican restaurants here, but none authentic. (At one, I ordered chile rellenos- only to be served stuffed bell peppers!) Anyway, Noche Mexicana is a godsend. The food and spices are delicious and the menu authentic. Be sure to specify if you want your meal spicy, since they're more than capable of making it that way, but tend to cap the spice for less heat-accustomed New York palates. Also, the sea food isn't super fresh, but it's super cheap, which compensates. You know a place is good when it's populated almost 95% by Mexicans. Try everything. The tamales, the nachos, the more authentic dishes that move beyond taco/burrito- I especially love their pumpkin seed sauce. Also, their guacamole is great. This place gets five stars. It would be in the 95th percentile of Mexican restaurants in terms of both flavor and price, even in the heart of the southwest. And it's cheap too (by New York standards anyway :) Enjoy!

Most West Coast, East Coast Mexican
Noche has amazing food and it is cheap. One of best Mexican places I have found in my search of NYC for good Mexican. They give you tons of food without sacrificing quality, which is a central draw for me. Great for delivery, and eating in. Whole heartedly recommended.

Great food, good service
Another frustrated californian transplant here. I'm so happy to have found this place. I live on the east side and bike there regularly. I've not had any problems with their service but i can't do delivery. Yes, there perhaps is more to be desired with their atmosphere, but one should go there for the food. Everything i've ordered there has been excellent, and i highly recommend the orchata when it's available. Flan is very good too.

Great food, get it delivered
This restaurant is on speed dial at our apt. We LOVE their nachos. The actual restaurant is not that nice, but the food is excellent and they are certainly nice to you when you go in. Highly suggested for good Mexican on the UWS.

Not worth the wait
We ordered take-out, and while the food was good, it was not worth the two hour wait. I highly reccommend pick-up or sit-ins for this restaurant.

Mexican cuisine at its finest...
It's tough to resist ordering from here more than three nights a week. the food is authentic, this is by far, in my opinion, is the only mexican restaurant in nyc. i'm drop dead serious. i grew up in california and the food definitely rivals most of the west coast mexican cuisine. my favorite dish is the tamales - rojo. and the flan melts in your mouth...the absolute best in the city. the restaurant is clean and the clientele, service and delivery are all cool...and cool as in laid back/chill and just plain real.

This has got to be one of the best mexicans ever. the food is excellent and with the portion sizes they could charge alot more. a must is the special platter wich it enough for 2 for just $10.50.
