Disappointing
This place is so hyped up - I expected so much more. The sushi is sub-par. I would choose Yama or Tomoe over Nobu. The Miso Black Cod and Rock Shrimp were good but not so great that I would rave about them. If you are interested in going to the hottest place in town and spotting celebrities (sat right next to one) then this is your place but don't go for the food.

Incredible
NOBU is the ultimate New York dining experience. Incredible food, great service, and a very cool atmosphere. Don't go for the Sushi, NOBU is NOT a sushi restaurant, it's fusion cuisine. As someone else posted, try the Miso Cod, definitely have the Rock Shrimp, and then experiment with some other dishes. Everytime I go I try 2-3 new dishes and they are always great.

Don't go for sushi
Go for the other stuff--the sushi is subpar, definitely isn't the best, nor worth the $. But the food-food is amazing!

DeNiro's the man
Props to Bob DeNiro. Nobu is awesome. The food was incredible. We didn't have much sushi because we can get that anywhere. Plus we got to see Big Pussy from the Sopranos there. What more do you need?

Overrated
Everyone seems to love the food here, but everytime I go to Nobu, the sushi is borderline bad. However, the great decor and tasty/innovative appetizers are almost worth the money... Just don't order sashimi!

Not as $$ as you think
I went here with my boyfriend for our anniversary and we were pleasantly surprised when our bill came. It was only $150, half of what we anticipated. We ordered 6 dishes and had 2 martinis each! All of which melted in our mouths! The service was excellent!

I'm tired of...
people going to Nobu, ordering exclusively or almost exclusively sushi, and then complaining that it was not the best meal they've ever had. Nobu is NOT A SUSHI RESTAURANT. The rest of the menu will knock you off your feet. Order sushi elsewhere, where you can get better stuff for less money. At Nobu, try the cod with miso, rock shrimp tempura, arctic char with crispy spinach leaves, sea bass with black bean sauce. Oh, and of course the seared sashimi salad.
