    Expectations reached

You dont come to NOBU for the sushi, the sushi here is kind of average, nishiki rice states that they dont put much thought on the sushi at all. The rest of the food is another story.. ! It is simply put amazing. The omakase is flawlessly served and service is just about perfect.

    Not worth the money

Went during restaurant week, with $24 got a tuna salad, assorted sushi, and a tofu dessert. The salad was bland and was sub par. Assorted sushi was definitly not worth the price. Got 8 different pieces and 6 pieces of tuna roll. Quality was way below expectation - I could have gotten better quality with $9 at zen sushi at east village. Very dissappointed as this was my first visit after having lived in nyc for 7 years, this is way too over priced and low quality sushi.

    Great food

Although pricy, the food is definitely worth the hype. The sushi is subpar, as stated by previous reviewers, but if you go to nobu and order the sushi you deserve to get what you get. The sashimi salad and spicy crab were delicious. And the black miso cod may be the most amazing dish I've ever had the pleasure of eating at any nyc restaurant. Literally melts in your mouth. Will be back for a third time... once I save up the money!

    wonderful food and service BUT

the food: black cod and rock shrimp were outstanding. Service very good. Reasonable lunch BUT the noise level was very annoying and could hardly have a conversation with my companion.

umm hello, who goes to nobu for sushi?

To the previous two reviewers, sushi is not what you order at Nobu! has it ever been? Nobu is about their prepared dishes. and please, rating a restaurant based on a restaurant week visit is just rank amateur.

Disappointing sushi, atmosphere; great non-sushi items

I finally got a chance to eat at Nobu during Restaurant week. I was really surprised, for a restaurant with such a good reputation, that the place was sort of average. The sushi was the most disappointing part of my meal (although I did actually have some very good tuna). The other dishes were better: sashimi salad, amazing rock shrimp, inventive dessert. The atmosphere also leaves something to be desired. I definitely would not go to Nobu and pay full price. Maybe they put more effort into the standard menu items.

    Subpar Sushi

I cannot understand the hype of this place. What a letdown. I just got back from lunch for Restaurant Week 2010 and it's completely overrated. The only good thing was the Rock Shrimp but on the regular menu it's $19. Ok, but not worth $19. I ordered the Assorted Sushi as my main dish and I have eaten better sushi from suburban grocery store chains. I'm not a picky or snooty eater at all but it was complete crap in my opinion and did not live up to the hype at all.
