    Very Disappointed

I entertain at least twice a week and this was my first visit to NOBU 57 - I must say I was very disappointed. The staff was wonderful and helpful and friendly but the food was fair at best. The salads were too salty, the tempura was totally tasteless.

    Outstanging Specialty Dishes

We went to celebrate our 5th anniversary. And each and every dish was so delcious. Though we weren't crazy about the Spicy Creamy Crab (too much sauce) but the Rock Shrimp Tempura was as great as everyone says it is and the Black Cod with Miso: buttery and delectable. But oh, did my heart and taste buds sing when I ate the first morsel of the Fluke Sashimi with Yuzu sauce. I actually considered hoarding the whole plate for myself and my husband considered licking the plate when we were finished. I'm not exagerating it was THAT good. Bypass the rolls, though and save room for desert (Milk Choc Yuzu Cake Oh ye!).

    Legit

It would be wrong to start out this review without mentioning the Rock Shrimp. Absolutely the best thing they offer. The sushi is great, but you shouldn't waste your time b/c the specialty dishes are what makes it worth the price. The staff can be a bit cocky, but once your sitting down and rackin up a bill they treat you well. The bartenders are really cool and hook up your drinks. The cougar scene is absolutley absurd. Its a great atmosphere if you're into the waspy scene, but def a good time.

    Excellent food and service

Without a reservation we came here for dinner on a Saturday night. We were given a table within 20 minutes after having a quick drink at the bar. The service was excellent. We ordered the yellowtail jalapeno, lobster salad, tuna tacos, arctic char special, miso cod, and the oysters. Every dish was spectacular and the sake we ordered was perfect. They didn't rush us, and after dinner we had a drink at the bar downstairs until the restaurant closed. Perfect dining experience!

    Cant go wrong with Nobu

Ive eaten and Nobu 57 and Nobu in Tribeca...you really cant go wrong with either of them, but I do have to say signature dishes are better at the Nobu in Tribeca. The Miso black cod is amazing and the rock shrimp is to die for. The waiter told us the rock crab was just as good as the shrimp (while it was good..it didnt compare to the shrimp) The bar downstairs holds a great crowd...but a very VERY crowded bar! Oh and the martinis are amazing!

    Not worth it

Ate there for dinner on a random Tuesday, and while this was not my first time eating there, it was the worst and I will never eat there again. The sushi is not worth the cost and the signature dishes are better at the Nobu in Tribeca. The staff is rude and acts as though you should be grateful that you get to spend your money at their restaurant. After the hostess had told us that our two friends could pull up chairs, we were then told they had to leave, and while we were saying goodbye, security came over to reinforce their departure. We were appalled. Suffice to say my firm brings them a lot of lunchtime business and I will be sure to stop that from happening. Maybe Mr. Matsuhisa and Mr. Notar should reevaluate who they have as the face of this particular Nobu.

    Overall Great Experience

We went there for a night of dinner in NYC. Don't go if you aren't willing to spend some money. The food is flown in fresh daily from Japan and other parts of SE Asia, and it's some of the best sushi I have tasted, but it is definitely pricey. We ordered 5-4 samplers (4-6 sushi) and two glasses of wine, and the price was almost 100.00. Comparibly, you would pay 40.00-50.00 in an upscale restaurant, and 20.00-30.00 in a sushi house. I don't think I have ever tasked crab and shrimp that was as fresh as what is served at Nobu. The mood, the service and the "people-watching" is fantastic. The servers were very knowledgeable, answered our questions, and although it was crowded, we never waited for anything. Although it was crowded, the noise was not overwhelming and it was possible to have a nice, romantic evening. Overall, this was a very enjoyable experience!
