    one of my favorites

this is definitely one of my fave restaurants in the city. the yellowtail jalapeno is to die for, and their "off menu" items are consistently surprising and delicious. our waitress helped us pick out a few new dishes this time and she was right on. my boyfriend even dropped his napkin under the table and she replaced it before he even noticed! it can be a little loud on a saturday night, but great people watching - especially the cougars! oh and definitely save room for the desserts. they aren't japanese at all and are soooo yummy (the bananas!). this will definitely continue to be one of our staples for a nice dinner in the city

    Nobu 57-patronizing bar scene

I am a frequest client of Nobu Downtown and have been to the Nobu in Las Vegas, London, etc. This is the 3rd time to Nobu 57 and I must say, it is my last. Having had dinner there, the 3 of us decided to sit at the bar this time for appetizers and cocktails. Big Mistake! Bartenders successfully killed the mood and the desire to order anything. The bar tenders were obnoxious and rude with their their Nobu 57 "bar schtick"-mocking our choice of drinks, etc. etc. ?! Is a new pattern of bar conversation to solicit buying more drinks in this economy ? Got news for you Nobu 57-it failed. Does Nobu 57 train them to say these things? To anyone with a brain-New Yorkers and tourists alike, the schtick they ply is patronizing, iritating and juvenile. We cut our evening short there and went somewhere else. It's too bad that due to only 2 members of the "front line" staff Nobu 57 has to contend with this review. Our other experiences at the other Nobu locations have been wonderful and delicious.

    Nobu 57 disaster

I have always liked Nobu and have been to the ones in Las Vegas, London, Milan and Hong Kong. On Saturday night I went to Nobu 57, I have frequented the one's downtown but Nobu 57 was garbarge, We were 7 people and ordered the $100 chef menu, not worth the money at all, we were all still hungry so of course ordered more, we got a bill of $220 a head which I think is a lot of money when one is not satiated and with the poor service on top, it was a real trick rather than treat, we had to wait for our drinks longer than needed etc. Not going there again.

    Blackened cod is fantastic

Went here for a business lunch, they recommended we order family style so we all got to try a little of everything. The blackened cod appetizer was absolutely fantastic, I would definitely go back there just for that. An all around great meal.

    Do not waste your money

Nobu 57 might impress tourists but not a true New Yorker. Don't waste your money because you can get the same (if not much better) food at many other restaurants in New York. Food is just so-so and someone please tell the staff they are 'just staff' and not 'gods'.

    What happened?!?

I've been to Nobu downtown, 57, Miami, etc. you know what you're getting into and by NYC prices, it's not as over-the-top as a lot of other places that have quality sushi and "Pan-Asian" style. Maybe we hit an off night but they've seemed to stop caring about quality and just about quantity. The restaurant was packed, we were rushed the whole meal and the food wasn't even so great. The yellow tail jalepeno is normally a staple - small, tasteless. The Cod - unimpressive, and the $25/oz beef nothing remotely impressive. The tuna hand rolls do happen to be excellent but aside from that I have no interest in going back anytime soon. They might as well stick to cities with no other options - with that quality and huge space in midtown - have fun with the tourists who just don't know any better.

The desserts are the reason to go

The food was alright- nothing spectacular. However, the desserts were amazing that we ended up ordering 2 more. It depends on what dessert you get though. The hazelnut cake and cream puff were heavenly.
