What Happened?
Face facts: Good chinese food in the Heights is an oxymoronic phrase. However, some stores are better than others. No. 1 used to be that one. You could order delivery (my standard option), and it would arrive rather quickly (I live on 163rd), and the food was really quite good! A few weeks ago, I called and asked for delivery and the "owner" stated that they no longer deliver to me. I asked why and she said, "You are 20 blocks away! We don't come down there, now!" Then she hung up. I called back (of course) and another employee apologized profusely, stating that the "boss" wasn't very nice. I will not patronize this establishment again.

New Owner
Must have a new owner, as the food has gone down hill significantly . I thought that it was one time , but the food is not as good as it used to be

Yummy!
I thought chinese take-out was nearly impossible to ruin... until I moved to the Heights. After trying about 5 different places I've finally found this one, and I'm really happy with it. I've only had delivery from here, but the food arrives warm, fresh (as fresh as chinese is) and delicious. Would definitely recommend.

Our favorite
My roommate and I have lived in the heights for going on 3 years now, and we LOVE this chinese food restaurant. Actually, it's where we order 9 times out of 10 when we want delivery. The food is great, service is fast, and the price extremely reasonable. I highly recommend the egg drop soup! It's not creepy and gelatinous like some places. Yay No 1 Chinese Restaurant!

Best In The Heights
this restaurant is simply the best chinese food in the area. and the quality is great. it seems less greasy than in other places

Great food for value, Only one drawback
I've lived in WaHeights for almost 7 years, and No. 1 is still one of the best values around: Great food, low price, friendly service- How I love to hear the nice woman who shouts 'Yeah, No. 1' into the phone whenever I call! The delivery is fast, and the food, cheap & delicious. The only flaw is, they don't take credit cards, so whenever I have no cash on me & crave takeout/delivery, it's no no.1 for me.
