Best Chinese in the Heights by far

I've been ordering from No1 for more years than I can remember and it's by far the best Chinese food you can get in upper Manhattan. Always fresh and always tasty! The owner may be an acquired taste but she runs a tight ship! I've never had a problem with delivery and I'm never sorry that I ordered there!

    No More

I've been coming here weekly for over 2 years unfortunately they disappointed me. They've disappointed me before but never with the food, it was a delivery issues, but today the chicken had a weird taste, it was like old water down chicken drenched in old vinegar. Disappointed 4 times & I've had enough, it might not happen again but I'm done.

    Finally!

I've been looking for good Chinese food in the neighborhood for years, and I just really gave up. A friend suggested No 1 and I wasn't disappointed. The eggplant in garlic sauce is garlicy and not too sweet. Gen Tsao's chicken was good as well, and the egg roll was really good, and not greasy at all. The only disappointment was the dumplings, which were way too doughy. Overall, really good Chinese.

Best in the heights! By Far

Number 1 is #1 by far. None of the other places in the Heights come close. The steamed pork dumplings are amazing - huge with great texture, flavor, and sauce on the side. They're incredible. Some dishes are better than others, but everything is solid and they have great prices. Make sure to ask about the free sodas or egg roll. They throw in the sodas if you don't ask, but you might want a specific kind.

You get what you pay for.... and sometimes a little more!

I have been ordering from No. 1 for about the last 9 months upon the recommendation of a friend. I've been consistently impressed with the quality of the food and the service. As for the "rude" owner: We live in NYC. People aren't always as polite as we would like them, so bring your sense of humor. I do know that the woman who answers the phone is very blunt and straightforward, but she does begin to recognize your voice and starts having conversation once you've ordered a number of times, and she remembers your order and is actually quite personable. I've been all over the world, and while this is not the greatest Chinese cuisine, it's definitely not sub-par, and more authentic than some of the others around, not to mention better vegetables. It is cheap Chinese food, BUT they are one of the only places around in the Heights that offer brown rice, and for no extra charge. Utensils aren't just thrown in the bag: they are in a wax paper bag along with soy and duck sauce... and even a fortune cookie! NONE of the other restaurants in the area do that on delivery. (This is not a dine-in type of place, though they do have limited seating.) Service is very fast on delivery. From the time I placed they order to the time the delivery man showed up at my apartment door 6 blocks away, it was exactly 12 minutes. This place is the gem of the area in terms of Chinese delivery. I occasionally order from other places which are closer, but mostly to spread around the business, but you really can't go wrong with this place.
