Niu Noodle House
Posted by Dui on 05/25/2015
I'm Chinese and live in the West Village and a so happy to have found Nui Noodle House as it is better than Chinatown or Flushing. The menu isn't extersive but what you get is well prepared. The soups are superb with the rice noodles tied in bows. The pork shrimp dumpling skins are thin and the inside juicy. I also liked the dip sauce which wasn't just soy sauce or vinegar. My childhood comfort food is tofu and the spicy hot Mo Pau Tofu was so satisfying with rice. The fried rice distinguish itself from other places by having the vegetable finely chopped. The spicy beef was delicious if you like spicy. This not you typical neighborhood run of the mill Chinese restaurant for non Chinese but is authentic enough for Chinese outside of Chinatown and Flushing. It's a great find near me.

I and 2 other friends have been in this restaurant 3 times now and it has always been a great experience. The dumplings are great, the Niu Trifecta and the Sizzling Steak are to die for. The management is also great. They sure know how to make you feel special. The house Cabernet is also great which can be ordered by the bottle.

I ate at Niu for the first time today. The service was fast, friendly and welcoming and I was in time for the 5- 8 pm happy hour. I had the chicken ramen with udon noodles and a decent glass of cabernet, served elegantly in a carafe with a nice wine glass. The soup was flavorful and cozy, and will make for a perfect go-to during the winter months. The ingredients are what you'd expect - fresh veggies, noodles, meat (I 'd prefer more veggies and less meat) and they seem to have a nice cocktail list. Overall I'd say Niu is worth it for good food at a decent price. I imagine the noodles are kid-friendly too so families will like it.
