    Unpleasant experience

Living in the neighborhood, I’ve wanted to try this place but never made it before, until now. First off, a host/hostess should know that when it's not busy you sit people at every OTHER table. The dining room was empty but for 2 tables and she brought us over to a table immediately next to one of them. It was the matre’d (I assume as he was one of the few here exhibiting any professionalism) who interjected and offered us a different table. The "hot" meze platter we ordered as a starter was tepid at best! The octopus was cooked nicely but the calamari practically raw. The lukaniko was burnt, the saganaki was hard. Nothing on the platter was hot! In the middle of eating this "starter" our entrees came to the table. How irritating! At this point perhaps 6-7 tables were taken, so the kitchen was not overloaded, in which case it would still be inexcusable. At least the server, NOT the waiter, knew enough to apologize and said they were bringing it because they did not want it to get cold. Well that's part of the dance in the kitchen, TIMING things properly! The entrees were dull, flavorless and uninspired and not even worth discussion. They classify their cuisine as "Mediterranean" however, there is nothing here even remotely reminiscent of the fresh flavors normally associated with that region. To cap off this meal, the cappuccino was not good! There is no valid reason to serve subpar coffee in this city! And what’s with that dip they bring to the table? Unseasoned canned tomatoe paste in olive oil, yuck! The tab for the above-mentioned meal for two, no drinks, was $69.00 before tip, Not what I would normally consider expensive for a good meal in a casual place however, here I consider it not worth it.

    Best in Manhattan

I was in NY for a few days, and when I go...I like to experience a vast variety of food. I went there on Monday, and the place was simply adorable. I ordered the octopus appetizer, and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't chewy and gooey. They had a fresh fish display, kind of nice to see how fresh everything is. My food came promptly, and my server was very attentive. I liked it so much, I went back the next evening. I ordered the seafood ravioli, along with a sausage appetizer. Everything was fabulous. The manager helped me pick out a wine that sould compliment my meal. Everythign was perfect. You would pay at least double what I paid for, if I had gone to another restaurant in Manhattan. I definately recommend

    Found it by chance...

Just happened to stumble upon this place. Really enjoyed the fried calamari. Stuffed Chicken was good, as was the duck! The staff was very friendly and attentive, when there. However, we arrived and the place was somewhat empty, it filled up while we were there, and we were sort of forgotten about. No big deal as we were in no rush. Would definately go back.

Passed by here many times and decided to

try it for the first time. Greek salad was good. Chicken rolled with feta cheese was average, Salmon -the part that was cooked, was outstanding. It was supposed to be medium well and it was a little soft in the middle. Attentive waiter with an attitude. Complimentary Samos drink at the end (port like drink). I pass it every night and the diners seem happy and intimate. Glad I tried it.

    Definitely will Go Again

Went over the weekend, and was pleasantly surprised. The food is fresh & cooked to order. Not your normal everyday boring restaurant. The bar is quaint and not too crowded. I had the risotto and my date had the halibut. The halibut was a bit dry, but I guess that is the norm for halibut. we shared the mezza platter and a bottle of wine. The hosts remind me of those charming Greek men you see in the movies. I kind of felt that if I let my imagination run wild, I could have been in a greek island. We will go again, even if it is for cocktails and appetizers.

    Poor quality food, inattentive waiters

Poor quality of food and inattentive waiters. Food arrived late and cold--cold calamari taste like rubber, fish undercooked, had to keep asking for water and drink refills as waiter was busy flirting with another table. We will not be returning.
