That's right, service is a 0.0
I recently decided to try Niso's for a Sunday brunch. I ordered a country fritata without spinach, and asked for it to not be cooked to the point of turning brown(as fritatas generally are)When our food was served I was given a shrimp fritata. I got the waiters attention and said that I'd been given the wrong item. Without a word (I'm sorry or otherwise) he picked my plate up and took it away. After a couple of minutes I realized I should remind him that I'd wanted the fritata without spinach. I saw him go over to the kitchen and I could see the cooks face(there is a open window from the dining area to the kitchen) and it was obvious that the cook had made the fritata with spinach. a few minutes later the manager came over. He asked if I wanted the fritata that was made as it was ready. I explained that I'd ordered it without spinach. There was still no apology, and the manager walked away. A this point I thought that I should remind the waiter that I didn't want the fritata overcooked as he had apparently forgotten my original order. He went into the kitchen and brought out the fritata. It was under cooked, but eat this point I decided to just eat it. I can handle a waiter making a mistake, But our waiter barely spoke to us except to take our order. He never once apologized for the mistake, and never came over to ask how our food was. The manager coming over trying to get me to eat the wrong order because the kitchen had made it just added insult to injury. The food is passable, but bad service is never acceptable. I won't be going back!

Used to be a favorite.
Wrote a two-page e-mail after our last visit detailing poor service, specifically requested a reply. Did not receive a response. Let me be brief and just say that although we have gone there many times over the years, everything was so disappoiting last time that I cannot see us ever going back.

ok
Friendly place, food somewhat tasteless (don't get the grilled calamari),prices fair. Not terrible, just uninspired. Ok if you need to get seated comfortably, on a busy Saturday night, in the neighborhood.

Food Never Arrived
First time at this restaurant with my wife and 14 month old. Waiting for ever to have our order taken. The waiter came back twice to ask if our drinks had arrived. Then after waiting over an hour for our food, no one seemed to have any idea what the status was. The table of 4 beside us left, then the table of 2 across from us, then we finally gave up and left as well.

Now a favorite!
My girlfriend and I happened upon it on a recommendation from The Gem Hotel staff around the corner. Our Pan Seared Tuna salad was perfect - the tuna and the salad, both expertly prepared. My Nisos Mixed grill had several meats and each was flavorful and juicy, not overcooked. A ravioli dish was incredibly tasty with fresh pasta and the perfect dressing. The staff was perfectly attentive. Bread was great. It was one of the better eating experiences I have had in NYC! Will return again and again.

A Great Discovery!
My wife and I live nearby and picked it at random. What a GREAT place!! The drinks were great, and they started us off with hot, fresh bread and a plate of high quality olive oil with tomato paste and crushed red pepper -- very, very nice. The meal was fantastic. My wife had the Tuna Tartare for an appetizer -- it was excellent. I had the Saganaki (a Greek specialty), which was good, but not nearly as good as the Tuna. I had Mixed Seafood Linguini (outstanding) and my wife had Marinated Beef Kebob (good, but not as good at the seafood linguini). The desserts were off-the-chart good. The chocolate mousse was perfection, and a Greek dessert called Galaktoboureko was one of the best desserts I have ever had. I would go back just for this. We sat by an open doors onto the street on a beautiful night, and it was really lovely. The service was only fair, but we didn't care. We loved every minute. A great place and we will definitely return.
