Outstanding
Third time eating here and this place has been consistently good. Service was bit slow but charm made up for it. Food is very good, tandori chicken moist... Cooked to perfection and lamb a delight. Shrimp Bhana was tremendous. The atmosphere was relaxed perfect for a quiet dinner.

Good not great
The meats were all really dried out & we never were offered the naan bread that everyone else got.

Awesome Indian
This is truly the best Indian I have ever had. I have tried Indian in many states, areas; northern, southern Indian and this by far was above and beyond. Service was out of the world fantastic for a city rated one of the worst for rude people. As a second time ever visitor to NYC I am completely impressed. And anyone complaining about $ - suck up the price folks...the portions are HUGE and the quality is awesome. I have paid as much or more for Indian in areas with a MUCH lower cost of living than NYC. Wake up, it is NYC and this is in a huge tourist area with many attractions around this particular location; what do you expect...5 dollar meals? I highly recommend Nirvana to locals or visitors looking for a great city eating experience. Yes, the lighting is a little bit crummy, but hey I'll tolerate a little ambiance issue for excellent food...I go out for food not to see the folks at the table next to me. I could find my fork and make it to my mouth...think that is the important part and here, the best part

Such a delightful time at Nirvana!
I visited Nirvana for the first time a few weeks back. Its located near Grand Central Station and as I love Indian food I stumbled upon this cute little spot after I got out of work. I went in with a friend and the hostess greeted us with a warm smile. We had a drink at the huge bar downstairs and the Bartender was a really friendly guy. Finally we were led upstairs to the intimate dining area. We ordered the Gobi Manchurian which is a spicy Cauliflower appetizer and it was delish! We also got an order of Raj Kachori which are these small pastry shells filled with potatoes and yogurt and they were yummy, a good combo of sweet and tangy elements. Our dinner entree of the Chicken Tikka Masala was fantastic! Not too spicy but just enough to make it a savory dish. The Saag Paneer was pretty ok too, I loved the cubed Indian cheese inside the spinach dish. The waitstaff was really nice and answered all of my friends questions as it was her first time trying Indian food. You should totally check out Nirvana!

Everything's disappointing
For the first time ever I had such bad Indian food. I had ordered Methi Malai Mutter (and the menu said it contained Mushroom - now who puts mushroom in this veg..) and the peas were not cooked properly and I bet I can cook this better myself...the second thing I had ordered was Paneer Makhanwala....can u b'live this dish to b of orange gravy...i can't....it was tasting like tomato soup with paneer in it...the nan was hot n soft...really nice...About the ambience - the lighting was so dim that u could hardly see nothing...need better lighting...a little bright...there is a bar downstairs and there was a live band the noise so so loud and annoying ...i guess they can atleast have a door to stop the noise for ppl who want to have dinner in peace...and the guy who was serving had no manners at all..i was still eating and he took my plate ....absolutely annoying...i hate this place and will never ever go again. I landed up paying $55...and I think it is a complete waste...

Great!
I loved the food but I rather have normal plain white rice with the spicy chicken and too much carbs but all good. Potatoes were awesome Oh! Hot should be hotter was not enough

Great Place to Show Off
I was watching a broadway show with a friend from LA and thinking about where i could take her that was reasonably priced, but also had great and different indian food. food here is delicious and she loved it. the bartender was so friendly and the drinks here are always great and they know exactly how to pair wines with the food. i especially love how the ambiance is high class but not snobby. and so easy to get to. impressed.
