    great portions, great food!

my husband and i just had the best meal there! i had a veggie platter with mashed potato, yams, and mac and cheese, served with corn bread and my husband had stuffed chicken breast. everything had wonderful flavor. i didn't need to add any salt to my dish, corn bread was sweet and moist, yams were cooked perfectly, not too soft and mushy, and not too hard, they were cooked to perfection! my husbands chicken was not only a huge portion, but it was also cooked perfectly, moist and juicy, how chicken should be. the veggies were sauted nicely and had wonderful flavor. the mac and cheese was made with real cheese, not some soupy sauce, and were made with a smoked cheese, maybe tilimook (sp?) cheddar. i really wanted to try the desserts which sounded delicious. but i was just too stuffed! wonderful service. the atmosphere was great, and made me feel like i was back in a nice little bar in new orleans. we were seated quickly, and the staff was awesome! you should definitely check this place out!

    Wow, I'm Surprised!

Since I work in the area, we go to Cookers quite often especially for business meetings. We love the service, we love the food, and the lounge in the back room is both comfortable and a great place to have a small meeting. I'm sorry about ya'lls experiences but try them on a less crowded day.

    20% Gratuity? No Thanks.

Recently visited Night of the Cookers a second time - this time for lunch on a weekday. Wasn't impressed with the range of choices on the lunch menu, but we found some acceptable dishes and ordered, receiving friendly but average service. While the food was decent, the service was definitely not worth the 20% gratuity they tacked onto the bill - this being for a party of only two! I like to decide the amount of my tips based on atmosphere, food quality, and service, and I suspect that most other customers like to do the same. There was no warning of this on the menu, either. For a restaurant to slap its customers in the face with the bill as they head out the door is deeply offensive, and next time I will head elsewhere.

If you hang'n not eating its ok

This spot has really gone down in the food category I've been going their at least 3 years because I live in the area. They must have changed cooks because this one can't. If your looking for a place to hang out and drink even though the drinks are really expensive then cool......the prices have jumped but the quality has not.... they charge extra on the take out if they have live music, that makes no sense......What started out to be a good place for Fort Greene got greedy along the way because of the owner and this spot is going to suffer for it. Another thing, the service people are rude. If things don't change I don't see Night of the Cookers being around to much longer.

I could make better food myself

So I had takeout from this place a couple years ago and wasn't impressed, but since I moved back in the area and keep (for whatever reason) hearing I should go there, I went back. I ordered the bourbon chicken, which literally is unseasoned dry chicken breast pieces sauteed with nothing, with a watery bourbon sauce over the chicken. The chinese places in the mall make way better bourbon chicken. The greens were okay, but not wonderful-again, lack of seasoning. Go because it's a cute place, not because the food is good. It's not!

    Great Night!! 15th December 2007

We came from UK to visit family and spend the week for my husbands 40th birthday. We were so impressed with the service, (our waiters name was Ron) he constantly checked that we were ok at all times. The food was great! The atmosphere was good, really we have no complaints at all and would recommend this place. When we are back in Brooklyn we will certainly be visiting again........ the candy yams were delicious!!!
