Extraordinary in NYC
I've been coming here since the 70's with both clients and friend and have never once been disappointed. The wait staff is "old school" and polite. The food is extremely well prepared with enough variety to satisfy everyone in the crowd. Try it once and you will become a fan, also.

none better
I can't imagine a finer dining experience in NY. If you go there order the "Night Gown"

The best Pasta in the Globe -even Italy
For the past 30 years, I have brought guests to this restaurant from all over the globe, including Italy. Without exception- all have stated that NP's pasta entitled SERERANATA is the best tasting pasta in the globe. In addition, the Veal , the Beef Steaks, the deserts are peerless. The atmosphere and the service are gracious and friendly to both intimate and social conversations. I had a party of UN Diplomats and their foreign ministers in this restaurant several times in a special guest room. Franky I do not understand the reviewers claim that his the sauces are not home made - NP makes every item from the start- definitely his sauces. I have eaten in restaurants in most states of US, in China, In Turkey, Central Asia, Italy, France, Germany, Iran, Libya, Egypt, Syria and elsewhere - If you do not visit NP - you miss a gem, a real treat , a visit to the best of Europe Much care and best wishes

Overrated
I live in the neighborhood and had heard mixed reviews of Nicola Paone. I decided to try it and unfortunately, after eating a c ouple of courses there, I would not recommend this restaurant (particularly considering the large number of quality, much better Italian restaurants in the neighborhood). The pasta was overcooked and in a sauce that tasted like it was from a jar. The wine was quite nice, but the food, including appetizers, was subpar. Save your money and try other Italian options in the neighborhood. Better yet, cook an Italian meal at home -- it will be better and will cost a fraction of what you would pay at this overrated Murray Hill restaurant.

Not recommended
The only thing good about this restaurant is the wine list. We ordered from the specials and had the following. Calamari in tomato sauce that tasted very fishy in a bowl of chef boyardee and the bronzino I was told was in a light wine sauce came out in a gel of butter and wine which was subpar. My date had the veal which was not cooked and wrapped in a piece of cheese. The reason this place was very empty was because of the fact the food is just not very good.
