Absolutely perfect
What a little gem this place is. Where else can you eat a cheap sandwich that's prepared so carefully, with such fresh ingredients? The bread is amazing- chewy and soft- the fillings are divine (I'm a fan of the Spicy Classic myself.)This place is a bit of a hole in the wall but it's the little things- the wait as your sandwich (not too big, not too small) is prepared, the friendly counter girl, the chatty regulars who shout 'thank you' as they leave, the fashion magazines by the door...I'd never had a banh mi before last week and now I've been back three times. A refreshing change from the usual, delicious and different. This is why I came to New York. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Respectably Good Place
I had wanted to try Nicky's for a while and finally did so tonight. The sandwiches are good in my opinion. They are small, but not to the extent that the avg. human would not be full. I would say a bargain for most, even though I did just eat 2 sandwiches. I had the Classic and the Portobello. The menu is limited, but for the value you really cannot complain about anything here. Good flavors and fresh veggies along with the baguette are characteristics all sandwiches should have. Unfortunately I nothing to compare the meat in the Classic sandwhich too. The Portobello was good, it was cooked well and retained it's flavor. I would go back. I hope what I just said makes sense.

Great choice
Reflecting on Tom's comment, this place is very good. I have lived on both coasts and Nicky's banh mi is just as good as any in SoCal. The experience I had with the waiting staff was quite positive. Baguette was nice and crusty and fillings were fresh. I highly recommend it.

Decent Bahn Mi Sandwiches
The bahn mi sandwiches are pretty good but you don't get value for your money. The sandwiches are small and it takes them 20 minutes to make your sandwich. It should not take no longer than 2-4 minutes to make a bahn mi sandwich (This includes toasting them).

Yum!
The reviews I've read do not do these sandwiches justice! Sure there are only a few choices but the 2 I tried- the porkchop sandwich and Vietnamese sandwich, both were DELICIOUS! The bagettes were fresh- crusty on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. The veggies were fresh and I am not sure which sandwich I like better, since both were made to perfection. The price is right also- you cant beat it for an inexpensive lunch. The only downside is that the wait is long but sooo well worth it (this coming from an impatient person). There's one person making all the orders and one taking the orders., Don't always expect to get a seat since there are only two tables that fit a maximum of maybe 5 people. The owners are friendly and pleasant people. I will definitely be going back!

Tasty, reasonable, friendly
The sandwiches are excellent. Particularly the sliced pork chop. There may be cheaper viet. food out there - but for this area it's a great - quick - relatively inexpensive option.

Please don't find out about this place..
..because then we'd have to share it with more people. I order from them somewhere between one to three times a week. Sandwiches are great as lunch AND dinner. If you're you're looking for a spicy sandwich to give your day a little kick, then you've found it. Now please click on and forget what you've read. Thank you.
