Nick is great. Love the heavy NJ/NY attitude. Friendly but gruff. Cold cheap wine - not bad. Pastas and salads are great. - little too much garlic on everything. That's their way of getting the flavor w/ out being too creative. But it works. Place would be amazing if they had a nice bar you could relax and eat. Maybe some antipast (cheese, olives, etc). The lighting is also too bright.

I found Nick's right after I moved here about a year ago. An unbelievable value, the quality of the food is excellent. The 5 Leaf Salad is so fresh and the pizza is so thin it hardly registers on the carb scale. There were five of us and we ordered the salad, Veal in the Oven and a large pizza...there was plenty to bring home...believe it!

We have ordered pizzas from this place 4 times now and they are so good but 2 out of 4 times, bottom part of the pizza was burned really bad and couldn't eat half of it. We started to ask not to burn. But their pizzas and pastas are very tasty..

I have been to Nick's twice now and have been impressed both times. Their pizza is amazing - fresh toppings, including fresh mozerella cheese! The prices may be a bit high, but the plates are big enough to feed a few people. The servers have always been polite and attentive, and the atmosphere is also nice. I recommend the pizza and the chicken parm. Yum!

Restaurants like this are an utter blessing for certain neighborhoods, especially the culinary wasteland of the UES above 86th Street. Family-style Italian can often be as fraught with tension as a real-life dinner back in Bensonhurst, but here all goes smoothly. The pizza is terrific, albeit a bit overpriced, the calamari cooked perfectly--hard to find in moderate Italian restaurants--the service attentive and the atmosphere peaceful yet ornate in design. One wonders where the locals would be left if this place ever closed. Avoid the back room; it lacks the intimacy of the classically ambient front.

The service, as read on other posts, was not exceptionally good. However, I have been four times and although the service was bad on some nights, it did little to affect the enjoyability of the evening. It has a great atmosphere, fantastic pizza, and a decent wine list. Great bang for your buck, there is not reason to bicker about prices if you can compare to other venues in NYC. You must try this pizza!

It's hit or miss with the waiters here, but the food is uniformly good.
