I never really thought I'd eat at Nice Matin because I didn't think it was my kind of scene. However, a friend and I decided to go there for lunch on a whim earlier this week, and we were both very impressed with the restaurant. I ordered the grilled salmon and my friend got a burger. Both were excellent, and the presentation was outstanding. Service was a little spotty at first, but it got better during the meal. The restaurant is exceptionally clean and very well maintained. I'll definitely go back.

Whether you want to sit at the bar and have a glass of wine and some food, have a celabratory dinner....or late night drinks....it is the place to be. It's a fine restaurant or your neighborhood joint. The food is excellent...except the tuna tartare...often bland. But the the new lamb dish and whole fish is amazing! And the wine list is impeccable.....something for everyone. As for service....we usually sit at the bar.

You can indulge with a multi-course meal, a great bottle of wine and spend a fortune or you can order a single course and a glass of wine. Either way, Nice Matin is always buzzing and the service is professional. Whoever is in the kitchen is paying attention to each dish.

We are french and had never had the (strange) idea of going to a french restaurant during a visit in NYC before. Nice matin was a good surprise. Waiters were professional, atmosphere was the right balance between busy and quiet, and the food was perfect, not mentioning the wine list. Prices are a little bit overestimated though. A little word to Upperwestsider: you should give up French restaurants now.

I've been to Nice Matin twice and I've experienced rude service regarding their seating policy. The waitstaff/hostess were disorganized to say the least. On my second visit, I was meeting a couple of friends who were already at the bar. They were assured by the hostess that as soon as their party arrives, we'd be seated promptly in five minutes. Well, their meaning of prompt stretched for another forty minutes where we had to constantly remind them to get us a table. The food was bland for the price, especially the weird salad mixed with potato chips. I don't understand why there are so many positive reviews when there is a negative consensus among a lot of my friends who live here about Nice Matin. Are we missing something?

A wealth of choices, all well prepared and generous - great sharing/tasting posibilities for the table. Open all hours, and always lively. Friendly service and fun environment, but it's all about the delicious food - which can never get boring because there are so many options.

Nice Matin is a great place for lunch. It's great place to meet people. The menu is perfect. The food and service are excellent. I've come in as late 3 or 3:15 for lunch. I also think Nice Matin is great for after the theatre or after performances at Lincoln Center. The restaurant is a real plus for our neighborhood.
