At first i thought this place was going to be a little too stuck up but overall this restaurant was very good (as oppose to great); not taking anything away from it but it was only my first time. My wife had the chicken which appeared great but tasted a little bland, however still worth ordering. I had the Leg a lamb medium done, and it was JUST RIGHT. What also made it so special was how attentive the waitress was to us, and how nice she was. I had a 2006 Californian chardonnay and it had a very good fruity taste not too acidic of a taste, and just the right temp. Also, there wine list is AMAZING. I definitely would love to go again and see if my very good first experience was just a fluke.

Beware of the $35 Prix Fixed dinner! I dined here this past week and both my dining companion and I ordered the 3 course Prix fixed. The service was good, as was the food... then we received the check... they had charged us for each of the desserts ordered, though it should have been included in the $35. (Neither of us would have ordered dessert otherwise.) We did not take note of this mistake until after the bill was paid. I was subsequently told that this 'mistake' is common for Nice Matin.... very disapointing for a UWS "staple" restaurant to take advantage of its patrons.

Such a classy restaurant! The menu is exceptional! I really enjoyed my entire time at the restaurant, from stepping foot inside, to leaving! The service was very prompt and friendly! I would take anyone of my friends here for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! Go try it out! Youll be so happy you did!

this one of those places that no matter if this is your first or your twentieth time at the restaurant you always get a warm wellcome and a pleasant goodbye at the end of a very nice dinning experience., in this hard times it is good to have the option of having dinner with out having to spend a fortune, f.y.i. they have this thing of giving you a 10% dicount by just filling out a coment card, and I think that's great, I mean who doesn't like to get basicaly free stuff, you know , it's a win win situation. i go there every chance I have, it's worth trying if you haven't.

Everything on the menu is so delicious that we usually end up making our own tasting menu. Instead of each ordering an appetizer and entree for ourselves, we pick four or five different things and order them as separate courses which we share. It is like having a customized fancy tasting menu, for half the price of a fixed tasting menu at most other restaurants. The wine selection is great, and beer selection even better. Some amazing, hard-to-find beers priced only a few dollars more than the beer store/deli on 78th street. For example, there is a great french beer called Triple Carmillet the size of a wine bottle that sells for $15 at the 78th street deli, but is only $20 at Nice Matin. I've never seen such a low-mark up for a restaurant. Not that I'm complaining though. Recommendation: make a late 10pm reservation. You'll get a huge table and excellent service! I've been eating here for more than 10 years and love his place. But I understand what some of the other reviewers say about the service when it is very crowded. We once booked a 7pm dinner on Christmas eve, and it was so crowded that the servers couldn't even get through to bring food to our table (of course, we were sitting by the bar near the entrance). So go late at night. But hey, isn't it a good sign that the restaurant is crowded because the food is so great? Bottom line: the food is outstanding, great wine and beer selection, and impeccable service!

I came here with a friend Sunday for brunch. I've walked by this resto. many times, and have always wanted to try it out. Our waitress was great, always coming by to fill up our coffees and water, and made sure that we were happy with our meal. We got a little basket of breakfast breads, which was really nice - most places don't do that in the city. I got the eggs benedict, which came w/potatos and greens. My friend got the poached eggs in puff pastry - which she loved. The atmosphere was very bright and cheery. My only complaint - and this is b/c of personal pref. - is that the potatos were kinda tomatoey. I don't like tomoatos, so, there you go. I will definatly go back!

I'm really surprised at some of these bad reviews! Granted our server was a bit discombobulated (sp?), but she was very sweet, so it wasn't a problem. Besides, the wonderful(!) food and beautiful, sunny decor more than made up for it! I had their roasted leek frittata (delicious! and really big!). My friend had the orange scented buttermilk french toast (or something like that.. i forget the description), and it was wonderful! I had the apple tart for dessert served with cinnamon ice cream, and it had crunchy praline things.. it was heavenly! My friend had their dark chocolate pistachio dessert, and she loved it! Anyway, the food and ambience were wonderful, so i can't wait to go back!
