Good food, too noisy
I've eaten here twice. Both times the food was very enjoyable but the sound level was way too high. It was impossible to have a conversation. Many NY restaurants seem to have the same problem which could be easily remedied with a little sound treatment. I probably won't return.

falling off
As a regular here at Nice Matin, I have always enjoyed a quality meal with good service. Lately, however, I have notice an alarming fall off in the quality of the wait-staff. Today, the waiter tried to remove a plate from the table, from which a patron was still eating, and then asked us if wanted dessert menus now. He also never checked back to see if we needed more drinks during the course of the meal. I hope this is not something that will be the norm in the future.

Food good, but watch out
I’ve been here quite a few times with my girlfriend. The food is pretty good for the hood, but I decided to write comment not about the food but for a constant practice I’ve observed. It seems they always try to up-sell my date from the wine she orders to another (which “would go so much better with her dish”) to far more expensive one where the price is not listed. The additional cost is usually about $4 per glass or $8 per the meal. It doesn’t kill me or break the bank, but I think the business practice is a little sketchy, and I would just rather not have the game. Has anyone else observed this?

Favorite UWS restaurant
This restaurant is consistently terrific. The food quality never disappoints, it's not pretentious, but delicious and satisfying. The service is attentive and courteous. Nice selection of affordable wines. The noise level is just right, you can carry on a normal conversation, even in a full restaurant. Overall, a neighborhood jem.

What has happened to Nice Matin?
Nice Matin had been my very favorite restaurant since its opening. My dinner there this week was extremely mediocre. The frisee salad was soggy and the candied walnuts were pitiful in the way they were prepared. The roasted chicken breast dish in no way compared to their past roasted chicken breast recipe. Is a new chef present? I was sorely disappointed . I always look forward to good weather to sit outside as the noise level inside is too high. On the other hand their "relative restaurant", I believe, Marseille has become much better and I would rate it a 5 on all counts.

Nice in the morning is fine at night
Friends always recommended this place to me, but somehow I never made it there. Finally the amber-hued interior beckoned me and I had the best duck I've had in a long time. Succeeding visits led me to short ribs or for comfort at the end of a long weekend a pricey hamburger with fabulous pommes frites. Who knows some morning I might make it for a real nice matin. I hear the breakfast is very good.

First Timer
At first i thought this place was going to be a little too stuck up but overall this restaurant was very good (as oppose to great); not taking anything away from it but it was only my first time. My wife had the chicken which appeared great but tasted a little bland, however still worth ordering. I had the Leg a lamb medium done, and it was JUST RIGHT. What also made it so special was how attentive the waitress was to us, and how nice she was. I had a 2006 Californian chardonnay and it had a very good fruity taste not too acidic of a taste, and just the right temp. Also, there wine list is AMAZING. I definitely would love to go again and see if my very good first experience was just a fluke.
