    Serivce

If they don't get with the program they won't be any more. Their service is horrible. Waiting over 30 minutes to get served drinks, having wait staff that clearly don't seem to want to be there. The food is good. But it'll be a while til i go there, again.

    Great end to tough day

I often find my way to Next Door after the city has chewed me up throughout the day. I'm consistently pleased with the my experience there. It's a neighborhood jewel with good music, food, and friendly staff. The menu is so eclectic that they might think of narrowing their focus, however I've never been dissapointed with a meal. Great refurbished bar, too. you should check it out!

    Not recommended

This place has gone so far downhill. I've been out of the neighborhood for a few months and was dazzled at first by the new look of the place, but quickly realized that it's all style and absolutely no substance. The sushi used to be amazing, some of the best I'd ever eaten, but every time I've tried it since I've been back it's been pretty disappointing. I just ordered some and had to toss half of it out. The service is so up and down - a couple of the waiters are great, very professional and friendly, while the others - the bartenders and manager in particular - are lackluster at best, haggard, and unprofessional at worst. So disappointing, as this used to be my favorite place in the neighborhood! What has happened to it??

    waiting for foodot

The 45 minute wait at this place is close to hallucinogenic. There are clearly not enough waiters, who, when they have time for you, are very nice and helpful and professional. Unfortunately, you rarely get to see them or your food. We had to get up to go to the other side of the room to interrupt the waiter at another table in order to remind them to get our drinks. When the food arrives it's pretty good but definitely not worth a 45 minute wait. My suggestion, until they put outside on their cute blackboard with cute sayings "We hired more staff," go somewhere else.

    Awesome Date Spot

I recently started dating a guy who lives up in this neighboorhood, and the first time he took me here it was only okay, I guess they had just reopened or something. This most recent experience though was soooooo much better. I think they're really getting into the groove of their new situation and I love it! We decided to eat at the bar because they were playing the world cup games, and the bartender was so super nice and helpful. He really knows his drinks and what foods would compliment our choices. We will be going here again and again I hope!

Don't Bother Eating, Just Go To the Bar

This restaurant has been going through some changes recently, so I've tried to be patient with the 30 minute waits for frozen (and then probably microwaved...) food and constant construction disturbances. But last night after waiting 50 minutes for my cold pasta, I've given up. The waitress that served us was more than apologetic and my friend and both felt really sorry for her, but that kitchen needs to get it's butt in gear. Next Door used to be a really tasty, efficient restaurant with calming decor and a wonderful waitstaff that knew people by name. The most of the original staff is still there and they are still wonderful, but the restaurant they have to work in is a shadow of its former self. Ryan the bartender is still there, though, and he makes some amazing drinks, so if you do go, sit at his bar - just don't order any food.... Maybe things will be better in time (see the other recently posted reviews) but I don't see myself eating there again any time in the near future.

    Poor service.

My family and I were in the area and looking for a nice spot for lunch. Next Door had a nice exterior and a good-looking menu so we walked in. We were seated and handed menus only to be told - when we were ordering - that only half of the menu was available! Once we all made new choices it took over a half an hour for the appetizers to arrive and then another fifteen for the entrees to reach us. It was obvious that they were not ready for customers and we didn't receive a single apology for the wait. The food was passable but not for the price. I would not recommend Next Door to anyone.
