I lived on the UWS for 6 years and this was by far my favorite diner. My boyfriend and I would always go for breakfast feasts and enjoy just sitting in the big booths people watching through the floor to ceiling glass windows/sliding doors (especially nice in summer). Hallah french toast, and breakfast meats are my choice, and they actually have grits...big plus in my book. New wave is one quiet little place that I miss about living there. Oh, the wait staff is usually an older greek guy who is on the slower side, but sweet as can be. So as long as you dont mind sitting and reading your paper its absolutely perfect. Diner wise.

My friend and I came to New Wave for dinner tonight. The place was practically empty. We were served by the kindest Greek man, who conversed with us briefly and gave us discounts on our food. I had a chicken salad triple-decker club - the chicken salad was fantastic. It's not a gourmet restaurant, but we were both very pleased with the results. I plan on returning frequently.

This is the second and the last time that I order from this place. I never get exactly what I order and they won't correct their error. The food is okay diner food, but go in and get it.

I had heard great things about New Wave from my girlfriend, so we were excited to order when we both got home from a late night at work. When I called the restaurant and started giving the guy my address, he cut me off and told me that I was really far away (I was 7 streets up Broadway) and that it was getting late (it was 9:30 - they are open until past midnight). When I told him both of these things, he asked me for my order. I then began telling him that I wanted a meatball hero - he interrupted me again to tell me that it has been a busy day and that they were out of bread. At that point, I thanked him for his time and hung up the phone. If this place doesn't value new business, I would suggest plenty of other diners in the upper west side that are much more courteous to their customers. No stars at all on this one.
