Not as great as it used to be!

My family and I have been coming here for years - maybe 10 or more. I'm sure one of my rave reviews is here somewhere from back then. We loved it enough to keep coming back year after year. Today we had brunch, and well, even my parents noticed the dip in service and quality of food. I thought I was imagining it. They seemed irritated by simple requests. We came with 2 infants and it was about 50 degrees in the restaurant. When we asked if they could close the door to block the draft they seemed to look at us as if we were crazy. 7 adults sat through brunch with our coats on! I'm lactose intolerant and when I asked for soy milk for my coffee they said they didn't have any. The food used to be amazing, but I'm sure I could have had goat cheese scrambled eggs at any diner for much less, and with my hot coffee with soy milk to keep me warm. The cocktails were quite good. Perhaps they are the vestige of something that was once great. Of course, the ambiance never fails, so go at least once, but just stay for coffee; but don't forget to bring your own soy milk!

    Amazing!

It's quite true that everyone is a vicious critic these days. My husband and I witnessed many people that behaved in a way that would most likely get them removed from any public establishment. That said, we had an amazing evening at this gorgeous cottage in the woods. It was pitch perfect every step of the way and it was simply magical! The delicious food, which was accompanied by the wonderful service, was top notch! Our server, Jean Paul was a dear. He guided us through our journey every step of the way and the smiles and kindness were abound! The cocktails were delicious. Tea Rose Martini is wonderful! We had a bit of a wait for our table because of others finishing, but the Manager, I believe his name was Jay, presented us with a cocktail list and served us while waiting. This place was loving in the way we were treated and careful to be sure all was taken care of as best they could in a very busy atmosphere. It's unfortunate that while waiting we saw so much bad behavior from people who simply either had to wait for five to ten minutes, or did not make a reservation and took out their frustrations on a very kind and accommodating staff. My husband and I dine out often when we can afford to, and it's shocking how awful people can be. We give thanks for the kindness New Leaf gave us and the patience to deal with horrible diners. Thank you for a magical evening, we can't wait to come back!

    Simply Magical

We had an awesome time at this place. Every element from our evening was a hit. We started at drinks at the bar and we were entertained and delighted by a wonderful bartender named Diana. Wow! Go for the Hot Apple Jammy. Awesome. She made us feel right at home and importantly as if we were guests in her home. She even remembered our names on the way out and thanked us for coming in. Our server was delightful and warm. Never missed a beat. The Manager was jovial and kind to not just the guests, but in the way he treated his staff. As a former busboy, I can say that I was wishing my years in the biz was run by this kind of person. These are people who really love working at this restaurant and you can really tell they do. I'm sold. This place may not have the four stars, but I had a night with my wife we'll never forget. As my wife said, joy, simply joy lives at that place. The food was delicious, but the staff made us feel like we were family, can't wait to be back.

    What happened?

Service is friendly once it finally arrives. Food was tasteless. Great cocktails, which is the only thing that will get me back to this gorgeous restaurant.

    Great Food, Great Atmosphere

We went for lunch after a walk in the park. The salad was fresh, creative and ample. The service was attentive but relaxed-a good thing. We sat outside under an umbrella and surrounded by tall trees. Beautiful! Only sore point was the overpriced espresso: barely half an ounce for $5. I know they serve miniscule amounts in Italy, but not for $5.

    Shhhhhhhh!

We came upon this gem by accident after visiting the Cloisters. I have to say something, even though it should remain a secret, tell everyone! The food, the ambiance, the setting, our server! Shhhhhhhh! Run, don't walk! My new and favorite retreat from NYC is in NYC! Thanks for a memorable evening....and more to follow I'm sure.
