Lovely!
The first thing that struck me when I walked in here was how beautiful the space is. The restaurant feels like it's in an old farmhouse, and it's beautifully lit with exposed bulbs and candles. The old movie projected onto the brick wall was a fun touch. The food was great. Both the arugula and endive salads were delicious. We both had pasta as a main course and the servings were HUGE. I loved my pappardelle and my companion enjoyed her baked ziti. What I really liked about this place was how it tread the line between fancy and casual. The space was beautiful and romantic but not stuffy. On one side of us were a trio of Italian women who looked like they'd just finished a day of shopping, and other the other was a couple on a date. As to the details: we walked in without a reservation on a Saturday night but were seated within 10 minutes (could have been luck, the place was packed). Our server was attentive but not overbearing. Prices were reasonable. Definitely recommend!

deeply disappointed
This was my second time at this restaurant and the first time I simply loved it. This time, however, I had the misfortune of being served by probably the worst waitress in Manhattan. The food was great and everything else too but I can't overlook the fact that this time the service made this dinner a nightmare! I felt as if we were invisible or something, we kept on raising our hands so that she could notice us but nothing seemed to work and we constantly had to ask things to busboys or other waiters. And the times that she would actually come to the table would be just to give us some of her unnecessary attitude. I did not complaint to the manager or anything but now that I'm home I really wish I did and that is why I am here, trying to make up for my mistake. I am so angry because this dinner didn't come cheap and although I loved it I feel robbed because all that money I spent was not honored the way it should have. So I give to NERO A+ based on my first experience and F- based on my second. Let's see how next time will be...although, I'm sure that if she will be my waitress I will just stand up and go somewhere else!

terrible
Went here on a date. The portions were minute-and I dont eat a lot. It was so dark in there, we couldnt see the food on our plates...maybe I missed some. We were seated near the waiter station yet we were still constantly overlooked.

must go for brunch
When I saw brunch was fixed at $25 which included food (great choices, large portions) and unlimited drinks for 2 hours I knew I would have to try it out. We only had to wait 15 minutes on a Sunday at 1:30, but once we were seated it only took 5 minutes for the drinking to begin. The food came out fast too and it seemed like each waitress only had a couple of tables so they were quick to respond when your glass was empty.

Great lunch special
I work in the area and have seen this place but always thought that with the location it was too "trendy". When I saw the lunch special menu outside I had to try it. $9.95 for appetizer, entree (6-7 nice selections) and a very generous glass of very good house Sangiovese. The penne was very good, the staff was attentive, and most surprisingly, the sparkling water (Pelegrino) was included in the special. Great food, very good wine and nice ambience for lunch and walked away with a bill of less than $11. Best lunch special in the lower Chelsea/Meat Market area. I'll be back.

Big Mistake
Came here for a nice dinner with out-of-town parents and it was a huge let-down. Service was atrocious, we got so desperate for water after 2 hours of nothing that we broke open the bottled water in our bags. Food was bland and unmemorable. I had the pasta primavera and it tasted like they had dumped Campbell's Cream of Mushroom soup on it and that was it. Worst was the atmosphere, though the place was so incredibly dark we couldn't see the food in front of us. Asked for more candles, the waiter disappeared for another half hour and never gave us anything. Impossible to have a conversation and grossly overpriced to boot, I'd never come here again.

great brunch
i went as a group of 5 and ordered from the prix-fix brunch menu ($24.95), which included food and unlimited drinks (I chose mimosas). The same food items were about $14, so if you have a few mimosas, the prix fix is worth the value. I had the chocolate chip pancakes, which were perhaps the best pancakes I've ever had - so fluffy! my husband had the brioche french toast - also amazing. The other dishes on the table also looked good, and everyone was happy with their food. We got there at noon and there was no line-up (although it was a rainy day). It's great food and I would definitely be back!
