This weekend I went to Neptune for dinner Friday and Saturday. Friday I sat at the counter a with a friend nd Saturday I took a group of six to the restaurant. I was very impressed with the food - especially the kielbasa and pierogies. What made the experience most memorable was thegreat waistaff who not only recommended great polish beers but also shared great stories about their jobs. Highly Recommended ! d

This place has good and authentic Polish food (although it's not the best I've had in NYC Krolewskie Jadlo in Greenpoint is by far the best and worth the trip). But this place has an all Polish staff, great Polish combination platters, cheap Polish bear (that will cost you twice as much a few bars over in the east village at trendy bars). I LOVE the potato pancakes (also known as latke), the soups are amazing, and mostly everything is good. In the summer, the garden is fantastic, if the interior of the restaurant has a diner feel. Plus it's super cheap. I don't know how it used to be, but I just moved to NYC and have enjoyed my 4 visits to Neptune.

once upon a time, i used to visit the restaurant weekly... but, for the last six months or so this place has fallen off the tracks. poor service, stale bread, bland food, and fully cooked over easy eggs--every time now matter what you tell them . what happened to all the good waitresses that once made it worth dealing with the decor? neptune is inexpensive/cheap, but it's not worth the frustration.

I've never been to a place where so many things ordered have been served incorrectly. a medium bacon cheese burger = very overcooked cheese burger on a stale toasted bun with the bacon coming 10 minutes later. coffee (eventually) served with no milk. how many times must one ask for the coffee and then how many times must you ask for the milk? pirogies with sour cream.... why not bring the sour cream with the food? maybe the sour cream tastes better when it comes over 5 minutes after the pirogies are eaten?

The food is fantastic and cheap, but the restaurant's decor leaves something to be desired. Try the saurkraut pierogis.

Every time I visit NYC, my friend Lisa takes me to eat at Neptune. Pierogies! Yum! Would like to eat them every day and with every meal!

Seriously, the waitress is a cutey. But, more importantly she really seems to enjoy her job which is so refreshing in this city. The price is right and the patio in the back is adorable.
