It seems that good Polish food is vanishing from the East Village. I grew up in this area and was lucky to have lived two blocks from the great Polish place, Christine's. When Christine's closed, I needed my fix of Polish food and looked a little further down the block at Neptune. Neptune used to be adequate. Just adequate. Now the food is downright bad. The pierogies are terrible, and the onions they have the nerve to serve with it are swimming in red oil. The sour cream doesn't even taste like sour cream (watered down?). It's liquid. The service is incredibly rude. One waitress couldn't hide the contempt because she had to serve our table with my toddler son (who had done nothing). This place will no longer get my money.

I've been going to this place for years and it's always been a favorite. I went here tonight and wow, has the food gone downhill. Lets start with the pierogies. The fillings tasted old and they just didn't have the fresh taste they used to. I've always ordered onions on the side and they were fresh, fried onions. Today the onions came swimming in a red oil and tasted like they were made last week! Then the kielbasa. What used to be fresh and crispy when fried now tasted rubbery and of much lower quality. I have to say that the one thing that is consistent at Neptune is the service! I'd have to say that along with the food changing for the worse, the service might have actually gotten even ruder! You get away with the barking at people bit when your food is good, not when it tastes unpleasant! I hate to say it, but this isn't the place I used to love and I don't know if I will be going back any time soon.

I've grown up in NYC my whole life and I have been going to this place basically since I was born. It's really nice to eat in the outdoor garden- my favorites are the White Borcht, which is a special on the weekend, the blinzes, perogi and any of their dishes with Kielbasa (Polish sausage). It's not expensive at all and everything is good!

I feel the food is very good & a reasonable price. i find that everytime i go there to eat, they mess up my order & when i do tell them.. they say they didnt.. and that i am wrong. The customer is always right. most of the people working there, do not speak english & that is probally the reason the orders are always messed up. You will have to repeat you're self serveral times. When i have ordered take out from there, the delivery guy always hits on myself & other women friends. Its disgusting.

Don't waste your money. They mess up every order and you'll wait 30 minutes or more for them to fix it. The take out is the worst. They'll send you pancakes with no syrup and when you call for the syrup it will come an hour later when your food is cold. They take an attitude if you ask for something simple like adding cheese to your eggs or buttering the toast saying the chef doesn't have time! The food is tasteless and greasy and served cold. Eating out shouldn't be a frustrating experience and when you pay good money for your food, you shouldn't be made to feel abused for wanting what you paid for.

while the food may be cheap and affordable, I have ordered from here twice and been satisfied. However, the last time I ordered, they put me on terminal hold (seemingly to find somebody in the restaurant that could speak English) and they couldn't even understand me when I said the number of my building. To add to that, when I said I lived on St. Mark's the woman questioned me like I was ordering food to mars, and asked me to spell St. Marks. I explained to her that it was the same as 8th street, and said this was getting confusing, which promptly lead to getting hung up on. So, be careful when you order...and remember to annunciate your words

Great place to eat. Found this place through MenuPages and the food is great for the price. I usually go once a month or so and they never lack quality.
