Good food but nothing to write home about

I have been to this place to eat several times. The food is pretty good but the service could be better. Since the waiter/waitress receive a tip regardless of the service, why would they provide top notch service? I always order the Negril sampler along with an entree but since the recent increase in price, one item on the menu is enough for me. Don't get me wrong, the atmosphere is chill and the music is great but it's not worth the gratuity you pay in the end.

    Poor service

Im a regular customer that has been going to Negril ever since there was one in Chelsea until they close it down so now its only the one in the Village. I love the food but this particular time around the experience was horrible. The receptionist was very very rude and disrespectful. We were told that we are not allowed to sit upstairs but we can go downstairs and eat in the lounge went downstairs and was told that we have to check our coats for $2 which i find to be a high way robbery and on top of that its was just lunch that we went there for i was so disappointed in the way how they handled the situation my friends and i just left and i will never ever go back to this restaurant again and would not recommend anyone to go there.

    Will not go again!

I have been to Negrils several times but THIS time I decided to write a review since I had a bad experience. I work in the West Village and even before I worked in the area I would come by on Friday's afterwork for drink and appetizers. I went for dinner and #1- they have changed the menu. less menu offerings now. #2- the food is very overpriced. #3- the food portion sizes are very small! They overcharge for a small amount of food! The food is good but you will not be full. I went with a friend and we did not order appetizers but an entree with an extra side. We did not get drinks or dessert. Our bill was $65.00!! Why? Because our server added gratuity to our bill. Mind you the service was sub-par. He was an ok server and not very attentive and then ended up getting full gratuity. He didn't even hand us our bill. I will not go back for dinner. It was not worth the money.

    Disappointed

I thought I found the perfect place to hang out after work. Not anymore, while all the other lounge on west3rd, have live bands or DJs, and is crowed with people having fun. Negril decided to gut the DJ...Negril had my kind of crowed, I felt safe with my folks...rare.R.I.P

    You will not be disappointed

We crave this place! We have tried to did a good Caribbean place in the city and we found it in NEGRIL. The food here is outstanding. It is on the expensive side but you really do get what you pay for. I suggest the Mango BBQ Wings. They are perfectly cooked with the right amount of spice to sweet. It's so good, I get an extra order to take home. And if you want a drink that will sneak up on you, go for the Village Island Punch. The pirate in you will thank you. Can't wait to come back

    Overhyped!

waited 20 minutes for initial service. waitstaff said they were in a meeting. at 6:00 pm. appetizers: bland, entree: overpriced and no different than from small storefronts in Harlem. BewareE: gratuity automatically included. plus: staff tried to put extra drink charge on bill. no accident. Overall: its for those with limited options and even less food experiences. other than that, enjoy being taken. you've been foretold.
