I LOVE this place!
I love the staff here. Granted, we're regulars. But pleeeease tourists, you must understand that this is a BUSY place! This is not the coffee shop where you can just sit at a huge table and have one coffee - especially if it's busy. This coffee shop has such good food that many come and will shell out the big bucks for lunch, so I'm sorry Mr. Tourist, but your one coffee order is not as tempting to them as a $100 order for four. I have always had a pleasant time at Nectar; the staff has ALWAYS been understanding when my two and three year old boys misbehave. Next time you go in, smile, be polite and patient, and you'll get treated the same way.

impolite
My daughter & I stopped in for a light bite after a visit to the Met. We were not too hungry and just ordered muffins and coffee. It was pretty empty and a bit before lunch time, but the waiter could not have been more annoyed by our order. He scowled, "that's it?" and stamped away. No one ever came back to ask if we wanted more coffee. Don't bother!

eat....................
I enjoyed my experience here. The food was excellent as well as the service. I highly recommend Nectar's.

Classic Greek Diner
There is almost a prerequisite to what you should expect from a New York City diner and Nectar is it. Speedy service, clean enviornment, wide range of dishes and good size portions. Aside from the fact that my meal was delicious. I've visited this establishment a hanful of times and I've always been satisfied. I'm actually shocked at one of the negative reviews, I mean being a native New Yorker, I know what I like to expect of a diner; a quick, tatsy meal. If you want to sit down for a couple of hours and chew the fat, stop being cheap and buck up the cash to go to a restaurant. This place is tops on my list.

unpleasant
My husband and I were just slightly under the $8 minimum per person, and we were asked (after we'd already ordered) to move to a table in the back. The place wasn't crowded, so we politely asked if they'd mind if we stayed put. The waiter then loudly berated us for not ordering a full meal and for "hogging a table." I've never been so rudely treated in my life.

Service Rushed
Four of us had brunch here on Saturday, the food was OK, but the service was RUDE. We were talking and eating with our plates half full, the bus-boy came and asked if we were done. We said no, but he came in 10 minutes later and asked again. As we were finishing our coffee, looking over the bill, we were asked to pay and leave because they needed the table. There are 2 other tables-for-four that are empty, but they said they still need it. RUDENESS SHOULD NOT BE TOLERATED. Our total time in there was no more than 40 minutes. If I want to eat & run I would go to McDonalds. Instead here, walk to Lexington for more restaurant choices.

Above-average for a Coffee Shop
Their Greek specialties and daily soups are very good. Always crowded, near the Met, with tourists and locals. Tight seating, a bit pricey for a coffee shop, but far better than comparable coffee shops. I go back often.
